Weekly Free Games on the Epic Games Store Oct 1, 2026
October has arrived, and with it comes spooky season and another round of free games from the Epic Games Store. Fittingly, they’ve included an FPS horror game for PC as well as a visual novel murder mystery. For mobile, we have a casual game of building bridges, literally. Let’s play!
System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster
In honor of the official start to Halloween season, I’m starting with System Shock 2 from Nightdive Studios. This remastered FPS/RPG horror title puts you on the FTL ship Von Braun. You’ve just woken up from cryo sleep, and you don’t know who or where you are. You aren’t alone, though. Other surviving crew members’ voices cry out while “hybrid mutants and deadly robots” are trying to kill you.
The game has crossplay co-op multiplayer and controller support. You can choose from one of three military branches. There are 50 achievements. And, of course, this remastered version includes updated weapon and character models and animations.
- First Person Horror Shooter
- Single Player + Co-op Crossplay
- Rated: Mature 17+
- Platform: PC
BURIED STARS
A group of contestants on a survival audition show are trapped with surviving crew when the building collapses. Then someone is murdered. Characters communicate with each other and the outside world through social media. But who is the murderer?
The story has branches and multiple endings that are determined by your choices. The social media and Timeline show you real-time reactions and hints. The game also has full voice acting in Korean and Japanese. The text is in English, so don’t worry, my other American friends! Still, emotional voice acting is welcome in any language!
- Adventure, Narration, Puzzle
- Single Player
- Rated: Teen
- Platform: PC
Bridge Constructor Studio
Last up, free from the Epic Games Store mobile store, is Bridge Constructor Studio. It’s a casual 3D construction game with 70 puzzles, no budget or material restrictions, and five biomes for “limitless” free construction.
This one is currently free on mobile, but you can buy it for PC or Mac for $11.99 from the Epic Games Store.
How to Claim Freebies From the Epic Games Store
Whether you want to play on your PC, Mac, Android, or iOS device (iOS is available only in the EU), you can find the download information on the Epic Games Store website. If you’re on a computer, you can download the Epic Games Launcher to access and play your games. I know that’s not exactly shocking, and you probably figured that out already.
For the mobile games, you’ll need the QR code. Use the camera on your mobile device to scan the QR code, which will direct you to the download page. You will have to enable downloads from other sources. (Other than the native app store, that is.) This app isn’t available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After installing the app, launch it, sign in, and then scroll down to find the current free game.
And that’s what we have for you this week! Check back next week, and we’ll highlight the new game offerings from the Epic Games Store. We’re staying on top of the latest gaming news, so you don’t have to worry about any FOMO.
Happy gaming!
