Finding the Great Valley of Sulfur In Subnautica 2
Crafting is the main purpose of Subnautica 2, and it has a whole smorgasbord of minerals and elements sits peacefully at the bottom of the sea. One of which is the smelliest on the periodic table: sulfur. Where temperatures are high, they’re bound to be there. One area just so happens to be just a swim away from your very own Lifepod, and it is loaded! Of course, it’s best to be prepared with the right adaptation and tools before nose-diving into that superheated land.
Build Heat Resistance First!!!

Sulfur resides underwater in very hot locations, and we’re talking underwater-hydrothermal-vent temperatures. Imagine diving into a pot of water that’s rolled to a boil. Don’t sound swimmable (or survivable), but that’s what your body modifications are for. You’ll need to improve the Heat Tolerance genome by boosting your heat resistance. Once you do, you can withstand the scolding temperatures of the sulfur-rich locations.
Prepare to Blast and Harvest
Starting from the Lifepod, you’re going to turn and face Southeast and swim about 20 meters away. You’ll find that the hot areas start to turn the water a yellow-orange hue. This crevasse contains a “gold mine” of sulfur patches you can collect in any direction.
The floor and the surrounding pillars have small samples you can pick up easily, but some piles have bigger chunks that you need the blaster (or sonic resonator, whichever way you want to call it) to break apart. Just swim up close to one of the massive piles, charge, and blast it to smithereens!
If you’re in a bind and need a ton of it ASAP, there’s a tall mineral pillar that stands at the top of the crevasse near the surface. It’ll likely be the very first thing that you will see. This giant pillar is spotted with massive clusters of sulfur. Every one of those is going to need the blaster/sonic resonator for you to collect it.
Keep Some On Hand for Repairs
Many blueprints need sulfur to create advanced pieces of tech. One of those, for example, is the production of Strong Acid and premium batteries for tools. It can also aid in the construction and upgrading of your water bases! It’s best to keep some extra of this stuff on hand in case one of those nibber mangoes has a vendetta against you. And I know they will.
