The Glass Throne in the Vault of Glass in Destiny 2

The June 9th update brings tiered loot to every raid and dungeon in Destiny 2. Each one will see their weapons get a loot refresh and an individual armor set. The armor sets come with their own set piece bonuses. The Vault of Glass was the first raid released in Destiny 1. It was also the first reprised raid in Destiny 2. Venture into the Vault and defeat Atheon.

Vault of Glass: Opening the Vault of Glass

As you load into the raid, you already have your first task: opening up the Vault. Split players into three teams of two. One team will cover the left plate, one the middle plate, and the last team, the right plate. Standing on the plate captures them. When captured, a spire will begin construction. Periodically, Vex enemies will spawn, including Cyclops and Praetorians (Minotaurs).

Kill the Cyclops and Praetorians as soon as possible. The Cyclops pose a threat, while the Praetorians will recapture the plates when they stand on them. Spire construction happens when you control all three plates. After a brief duration, the opening ends, and the Vault opens. Travel inside and follow the path. Once you reach a large opening, turn to your left and follow the platforms until you reach the first encounter.

Vault of Glass: Defending the Confluxes

The first encounter is all about defending and killing enemies. Once again, split into three teams of two. One team will cover each Conflux. Be wary of the Templar firing at you during the encounter. At the start of the encounter, the middle Conflux will spawn. That brings Wyverns to the middle. Prioritize killing them before they sacrifice at the Conflux. Every Wyvern sacrifice is a wipe. After a couple of Wyverns die in the middle, it will despawn.

Now the Confluxes spawn on the left and right. The same applies: kill the Wyverns before they sacrifice. Other Vex enemies can sacrifice, but there needs to be more of them to cause a wipe. Be wary of any Fanatics that kill. They spawn Vex milk, which, if you step in it, you become Marked for Negation. Quickly run to the center to cleanse before the Boss kills you. The final wave will see all three Confluxes return with more Wyverns. Clear them out to complete the encounter.

Vault of Glass: The Oracles

There are seven Oracles in the arena. There are three on the left, one in the middle, and three on the right. Assign a player to each Oracle. One player will need to take a second one. Usually, we assign the middle and close right Oracles to one player. The encounter will start with three Oracles appearing. They will appear in a specific order. Have a player call out a number to assign the order.

The Oracles appear three times: Twice to show the order, and a third time to shoot them. Shoot the Oracles to progress. After each completion, an additional Oracle spawns until the final wave of seven Oracles. If you shoot the wrong Oracle or take too long, everyone becomes Marked. Have the entire team run to the middle and jump in the pool at the same time for a cleanse. The order will be the same. After clearing the final wave, the encounter ends.

Vault of Glass: The Templar

An Aegis will spawn in the center pool. Have one player pick up the Aegis. Shortly after the encounter starts, three Oracles spawn. Break them to prevent becoming Marked. Once the Aegis player has their Super, use it on the Templar to break his shield. The damage phase will start. The Aegis player must now look out for circles appearing in the arena. Standing in them prevents the Templar from teleporting. You can drop the Aegis, but you must pick it up before it fades away after ten seconds. If you take too long to kill the Templar, the Oracles will respawn. After killing the Boss, you will finally leave the main arena.

Vault of Glass: The Gorgon Maze

Continue through the open door until you reach a cliff. Drop down the cliff together. For this section, we recommend that you have an Omniocoulous Hunter with Trapper’s Ambush. If you do not have one, you will need to be sneaky in this area. In front of you are Gorgons. If they spot you, they trigger a wipe. Without invisibility, move slowly around to reach the hole on the opposite side.

If you do have invis, move together as a group. Use the invisibility to move past the Gorgons until the other side. Run through the path until you reach a large area with platforms. Jump across to the other side and find a large door in the middle. Have everyone join up for the next encounter.

Vault of Glass: The Gatekeepers

The Aegis returns for the Gatekeepers encounter. Players will get specific roles for this encounter.

  • Two Plate defenders
  • Four Portal Players
    • Two Initial Portal players
    • Two Initial Relic Players

Clear the room of enemies, including the Gatekeeper. The first Gatekeeper drops the Aegis. Have the plate defenders stand on them to open the portals. The initial Portal players head inside, one for each Portal. Have one of the relic players pick up the Aegis. After a short time, either a Wyvern or shielded Praetorian spawns in the Portal. The Aegis player runs into the Portal with the Praetorian. Break the shield with the Aegis, and give it to the Portal player. When you run through the Portal with the Aegis, you get a debuff called Teleport Destabilized. You can not run through the Portal with this debuff.

The initial Portal player runs out with the Aegis and gives it to the second Relic player. He will run into the other Portal with the Aegis and break the Praetorian, swapping the Aegis. During this time, more Gatekeepers spawn that will deactivate the Portals. The rotation continues until a text in the corner appears: “A conflux appears in the main throne room”. Everyone heads to the main room. Here are more Vex Spawns, along with three Praetorians, starting up top, one on the right, and one on the left. Wyverns will also spawn. After clearing the Wyverns, the encounter ends.

Vault of Glass: Atheon, The Time’s Conflux

After a brief time in the encounter, Atheon will teleport three players into one of the Portals. Call out which Portal you teleport to and run forward after picking up the Aegis. The Aegis is pivotal while being in the Portal. After a short duration, your screen will become black. Blocking with the Aegis creates a bubble. The bubble cleanses the darkness.

Kill the Gatekeeper to allow players to open your Portal. Have one player on the outside stand on the plate to open the Portal. During this time, Oracles will spawn in the main room in an order. They spawn twice in this room before appearing in the Portal room. Call out the order for the players inside the Portal to shoot. You can give callouts to the Oracles of your choice. We use directions, but most players number the Oracles. After destroying three sets of Oracles, the damage phases begin.

The Damage Phase

The three Portal players head through the Portal and cleanse on the other side. Have one player juggle the Aegis during the damage phase. If you do not kill Atheon in one phase, the process begins again.
