“Daredevil: Born Again” Levels Up as Jessica Jones Delivers an Epic Season 2 Return
An exclusive first look has dropped online, teasing Jessica Jones’ comeback in “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2. Fans finally got the reunion that they had been waiting for, as she reunited with fellow Defenders mate Matt Murdock. The new season escalates Daredevil’s conflict with his longtime foe, New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
The Reunion Fans Have Been Waiting For in “Daredevil: Born Again”

The Marvel Television-Netflix partnership was a success and a match made in heaven, until it wasn’t; when the shows began to wind down in 2018, it looked like the popular characters would be shelved. Now we are seeing the second coming of these heroes today, with Daredevil leading the way. Krysten Ritter reprised her role as Jessica Jones and made her mainstream debut in “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2, episode 6.
Ritter made herself a standout among the Marvel Netflix characters with her performance in her standalone Netflix series, “Jessica Jones.” Per Deadline last year, Ritter spoke about getting back into character for her Jessica Jones role. She said:
“You play a character for this long, and Michael C. Hall and I connected over this, too. Those characters that get into your body and your cells, and how slipping back into it was really easy, exciting, and fun. And it felt like everybody was thrilled that Jessica was back. Now, there’s going to be more layers to her and more to play for me, and that’s exciting to revisit a character that I worked so hard on that I love so much and so do the fans. She’s just one of the coolest characters ever.”

High Stakes and Radar Senses in “Daredevil: Born Again”
The huge return of the character in “Daredevil: Born Again” isn’t just fan service; it’s a brilliant reminder of the physical stakes involved in this corner of the Marvel universe. Jessica Jones might possess superhuman strength, but she is by no means Superman. She is just as vulnerable to a gunshot as any normal human being on the street. This stark reality adds a fantastic layer of tension to the choreography.
The agents making up the Anti-Vigilante Task Force aren’t just cannon fodder; they are a legitimate, lethal threat to her. In many ways, Jessica is actually in significantly more danger during this firefight than Matt Murdock, simply because she completely lacks his acrobatic agility. At a crucial moment in the footage, Daredevil’s heightened super-senses detect heavily armed reinforcements closing in, and his split-second warning is the only thing that saves Jessica’s life. It is the perfect showcase of how their vastly different skill sets complement each other in a chaotic brawl.
Filling the Nine-Year Timeline Gap
Beyond the action, episode six of “Daredevil: Born Again” has some serious narrative heavy lifting to do. It has been a massive nine years in-universe since we last saw Jessica on-screen. For those trying to piece together the messy timeline, this is all happening before Thanos snapped his fingers. When we last left her at the end of her third season, Jessica had finally returned to helm Alias Investigations and had surprisingly become one of the few vigilantes actually embraced by the citizens of New York.
Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, has been rumored to appear in Marvel Studios’ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” though Cox has denied an appearance in the film. When asked about the rumors, he said, per Comic Book, “I’m not in it. Don’t ask. I’m not in it. I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I’m not there. Unless they put me in after the fact using computer-generated images, I’m not there. I promise. I’m sorry.” The soul of New York City in “Daredevil: Born Again.”
