Jason Statham Unleashes The Beekeeper 2 at CinemaCon
Jason Statham is back in The Beekeeper 2! When the original Beekeeper hit theaters, it took audiences by surprise. The completely unhinged, action-packed revenge thriller grossed over $160 million globally and proved that moviegoers still love a straightforward, hard-hitting blockbuster. Now, Amazon MGM Studios is ready to bring the sting back to the big screen.
During their recent presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the studio gave theater owners a highly anticipated first look at The Beekeeper 2. Star Jason Statham introduced the exclusive footage through a pre-recorded video, appropriately pouring honey into his tea before letting the chaos unfold. Based on the clips shown, the sequel promises to escalate the absurdity and the action to entirely new heights.
The Beekeeper 2 Plot: A Rogue Organization and a Kidnapped President

The first film followed Adam Clay on a relatively personal revenge mission. This time around, the stakes are much higher.
The CinemaCon footage revealed that the Beekeepers—the elite, clandestine human intelligence organization tasked with protecting the United States outside of normal government jurisdiction—have officially gone rogue. To make matters worse, they have kidnapped the President of the United States.
This forces Wallace Westwyld, the former CIA Director played by Jeremy Irons, to reach out to Clay. Westwyld bluntly tells the former operative that he is the only person capable of stopping the madness. However, saving the country will not be easy. Clay is operating as a wanted man, forcing him to fight both the corrupt system and the highly trained killers sent to stop him.
Flamethrowers, Machine Guns, and Actual Bees
If you loved the over-the-top action sequences from the 2024 original, the sequel looks ready to deliver even more carnage. Director Timo Tjahjanto is taking the helm for The Beekeeper 2, stepping in for David Ayer. Tjahjanto has a reputation for crafting visceral, high-octane action scenes, and the CinemaCon footage put his style on full display.
The sizzle reel showed Statham’s character tearing through enemies using a massive arsenal. He wields heavy machine guns, unleashes a flamethrower on his attackers, and—in the most memorable moment of the presentation—actually harnesses real bees as a weapon to take down his targets. The movie clearly knows exactly what its audience wants and refuses to take itself too seriously.
Returning Favorites and Exciting New Faces
A massive action movie needs a great supporting cast, and the studio has assembled a fantastic roster for the sequel. Fans will be happy to know that several key players from the first movie are coming back. Alongside Statham and Irons, you can expect to see the return of Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, and Jemma Redgrave.
The franchise is also adding some serious star power. The sequel brings in Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland. While their specific roles remain tightly under wraps, Klementieff and Copeland both have extensive backgrounds in action-heavy roles, making them perfect additions to this specific cinematic universe.
Mark Your Calendars for 2027
Building a successful new action franchise from scratch is incredibly difficult, but Jason Statham and Amazon MGM Studios seem to have cracked the code. By leaning into the sheer entertainment value of the premise, they have created a property that fans are genuinely excited to watch.
You still have a little time to wait before you can see Adam Clay weaponize a swarm of bees on the big screen. The Beekeeper 2 is officially scheduled to hit theaters on January 14, 2027. Keep an eye out for the first public trailer to drop later next year as the release date approaches.
