Among the confirmed cast is Sebastian Stan, known for his 15-year tenure as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Initially, rumors swirled that Stan would take on the role of Harvey Dent—a complex character known for his dual identity as Two-Face. However, Reeves only shared a cryptic GIF of Stan from another film, leaving fans guessing.

According to a rumor from insider Jeff Sneider, via “The InSneider,” have shed new light on Stan’s role. Rather than Harvey Dent, Stan is now rumored to portray Victor Zsasz, a psychopathic serial killer who is one of Batman’s most chilling foes. Recently speaking on The Playlist’s Bignworthy Podcast, Jeffrey Wright praised the script for “The Batman – Part II.” He said on The Playlist’s Bignworthy Podcast, “I can say this, and I can’t say much, Matt Reeves has written an absolutely insanely brilliant script.”

Zsasz is infamous in DC Comics for carving a tally mark on his skin for every victim he kills and leaving their bodies posed in lifelike displays. His chilling belief that life is a meaningless cycle of pain and that he is doing his victims a favor by ending their suffering adds a dark psychological edge to the character. It remains to be seen whether Stan is actually playing that character or not.

New Direction for Harvey Dent: Brian Tyree Henry Steps In

The role of Harvey Dent, meanwhile, is reportedly going to Brian Tyree Henry, another former Marvel star known for his work in “Eternals.” This casting hints at a fresh take on Dent’s story, possibly exploring his relationship with Bruce Wayne before his transformation into the notorious villain. Henry’s involvement opens the door for layered storytelling that could add emotional depth to the film.

If these casting rumors hold, they promise to elevate the stakes for Pattinson’s Batman. Victor Zsasz’s presence means Gotham will face another terrifying serial killer, raising the city’s tension after the chaos caused by the Riddler. Meanwhile, a complex Harvey Dent storyline could deepen the emotional and moral conflicts for Bruce Wayne and his alter ego.

The combination of these characters suggests “The Batman – Part II” will deliver a gripping, intense narrative filled with psychological thrills and dark drama. When speaking about his future with the MCU at the Cannes Film Festival, promoting his new film “Fjord,” Stan said in a statement obtained by Comic Book Movie, “It’s sort of like having a sibling you’ve never known you had, who you’ve spent 15 years with. There’s been a comfort there returning every few years, which hopefully I’ll keep doing.”

Filming on “The Batman – Part II” is currently underway, with the film scheduled for release on October 1, 2027. Fans can look forward to seeing Robert Pattinson’s Batman navigate Gotham’s shadows once again, confronting new threats that will test both his mind and his resolve. As Reeves crafts this next chapter, the blend of fresh talent and compelling characters sets the stage for a sequel that could redefine the Batman story for a new generation. The rumored casting news on Stan and Henry’s roles has neither been officially confirmed nor denied by the actors nor the studio.
