‘Everyone’s Darling Has a Secret’ anime sets exciting April 2027 debut
Another school romance manga is headed to the screen. The “Everyone’s Darling” anime, based on Kashiko Amane’s Hakusensha manga “Everyone’s Darling Has a Secret,” is coming from Studio Gekko in April 2027, Anime Corner reported. It joins a growing list of anime adaptations fans are tracking.
The announcement came with a visual, the first staff details and a main cast. Hikaru Sato is directing, Fumihiko Shimo is handling series scripts, and Kibidango 14-go is designing the characters. On the music side, Satoru Kosaki and MONACA are composing the score, pairing two names anime fans have seen behind plenty of memorable soundtracks.
What the “Everyone’s Darling” anime is about
The story follows Hizashi Hiruno, a freshman at a demanding, elite high school. In Yen Press’ description of the English edition, Hizashi’s first big proficiency exam of the year is supposed to set the course for his whole high school career. Instead, a slip on his answer sheet wrecks his score and sends him to remedial lessons.
He isn’t the only one stuck there, though. One of his fellow remedial students might be the girl of his dreams.
It’s a familiar romantic comedy setup, mixing the pressure of academic ranking with a slow-burn crush, but that combination has proven reliable for the genre time and again. Fans of school rom-coms like “Kaguya-sama: Love Is War” will recognize the formula.
The cast
The “Everyone’s Darling” anime has already named four voice actors, according to Anime Corner:
- Reiji Kawashima as Hizashi Hiruno
- Hikaru Tono as Rei Kuromiya
- Iori Noguchi as Sakura Akai
- Ami Maeshima as Sora Konno
The manga’s track record
Amane’s manga has run on Hakusensha’s Manga Park and Young Animal Web services since September 2022 and reached nine volumes in Japan this summer. Yen Press licensed it for English-language release and published the first volume in January 2025.
An English license is often a sign a series has an audience overseas, and that audience will now get an “Everyone’s Darling” anime to go with the books.
What’s still unknown
The staff and cast reveal answers to plenty of questions, but there’s no word yet on the episode count, the exact premiere date or which streaming platforms will carry the show outside Japan.
Expect a trailer and more details on the “Everyone’s Darling” anime as April 2027 gets closer. Until then, the synopsis, the cast list and that first visual are all fans have to go on.
