Daily Devotional Monday Motivation | June 22, 2026

In daily devotional, a person is reading the Bible in a dark background.

Happy Monday! It’s time for your daily devotional. As a believer, you are to help build up the kingdom of God. Nehemiah was a covenant-keeping man of faith. He was determined to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. The wall symbolizes God’s protection and covenant. In today’s daily devotional, God’s faithfulness surrounds you like a wall, for He is your refuge and strength.

A Door of Opportunity

In Nehemiah 2:1-2, God’s servant Nehemiah takes a risk by being sad in the king’s presence. Typically, Nehemiah was joyful, but upon learning Jerusalem was in ruins, his heart turned heavy. He couldn’t be at ease while the place where God’s presence once dwelt lay desecrated. When he told the king his distress, the king asked, “For what dost thou make request?” This was Nehemiah’s moment to speak.

God had given him the desire, and He was opening a door of opportunity. Nehemiah’s first reaction was, “I prayed to the God of heaven.” In your daily devotional, take time to whisper a prayer before you speak, and let God direct your words to accomplish His will.

Responsibility to God

After Nehemiah prayed, he didn’t hesitate to make his request: “If thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.” His words were pointed and direct. Nehemiah was faithful in his duty to the king; however, his responsibility to God was even greater.

The king, after inquiring about the length of his stay and expected return, permitted him to go and rebuild. In this daily devotional, when you’re doing God’s work, He will take care of the details to make it possible.

Be Prepared

Nehemiah also requested the king grant him authorization letters to the governors across the river. He even asked that they accompany him to Jerusalem. Nehemiah wanted to do things decently and in order. He was a man of fortitude and proficiency. He knew they would question the authority and legality of his commission; therefore, he’d be prepared. He also requested that the captain of the king’s forest give him timber needed to rebuild the wall and to build a house for himself there.

Nehemiah asked unreservedly, and the king granted His requests. In today’s daily devotional, ask the Lord for what you need, for only He can move men’s hearts. Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”

Wisdom of the Holy Spirit

As he attended to the essential groundwork, Nehemiah knew he’d encounter opposition. As a believer, you know your adversary will try to derail your mission. He will present every obstacle he can to make you quit, but you’re not ignorant of his devices. Rely on the leading and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to get to the finish line.

Nehemiah was prepared. He took on the mission of rebuilding the wall, even if he had to fight. In today’s daily devotional, when you take on God’s assignment, see yourself completing the task.

In Monday’s daily devotional, Nehemiah wasn’t focused on who his opponents would be; he was focused on the work of the Lord. It takes faith to embark upon God’s assignment. Opposition is a sign that you’re doing His will. In today’s daily devotional, as you help build God’s Kingdom, trust Him to be your refuge and strength.
