Daily Devotional Thursday Thoughts | May 14, 2026
It’s Thursday, and time for your daily devotional. It’s easy to see bad things happening in the world, but we often miss God’s goodness. Romans 5:20 says that where sin abounds, grace abounds even more, so we can expect God’s goodness to supersede the bad. In today’s daily devotional, when you walk in the Spirit, you see God’s goodness all around you.
The Earth is the Lord’s
God created the world; it doesn’t belong to Satan, despite what some may believe. In 2 Corinthians 4:4, Paul refers to him as the “god of this world” because many follow his evil influence, but Psalm 21:1 confirms, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” So make no mistake; Satan doesn’t own the world.
He’s a created being who rebelled against God and got kicked out of heaven. God permits him to exist on earth for a time. At Calvary, Jesus reclaimed what Adam lost, making him a defeated foe. His time is running out, he’ll lose a final battle, and his eternal home is the lake of fire. That doesn’t sound like he’s in control. In your daily devotional, praise God that His world is covered in His goodness.
Meditate on God’s Goodness

When you focus on the world’s negativity, you’ll be consumed with thoughts of gloom. However, when you meditate on God’s goodness, you’ll see more of it. Psalm 33:5 declares, “He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.” God is righteous, which means He is just and holy. Everything that flows from Him is good. His divine law determines right and wrong, yet He extends mercy, grace, and forgiveness. Therefore, God is good all the time.
Pastor and Faith Leader Rev. Terry Cooper explains that when you remain focused on God, you’ll say, “God show me what to do, how much of it to do, and where to do it. What to say, how much to say, and when to say it.” In this daily devotional, staying in tune with God means letting Him order your steps so that you can walk in His goodness.
Great is His Goodness
In Psalm 31:19, David rejoices in His goodness: “Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee.” God’s goodness is overwhelming. He isn’t just good; God is good to those who fear Him. That includes you. When the Bible proclaims God’s goodness, put your name there, because He is your personal God.
As David asserts in Psalm 23:6, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.” Trust in His goodness. In your daily devotional, absolutely, as Rev. Cooper always tells his church, “God is good all the time!”
Praise His Wonderful Works
Psalm 107:8 exclaims, “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” When you think of God’s goodness and all He’s done for you, your soul should cry out! He brings restoration and healing. Verse 9 says that He fills the hungry soul with goodness. In this daily devotional, God refreshes your soul with what it longs for: the goodness of God.
God’s Goodness is All Around You
In Thursday’s daily devotional, David, in Psalm 27:13, reveals, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” David experienced God’s goodness time and again, and so can you. In today’s daily devotional, remember that God’s goodness is all around you.
