Daily Devotional Wednesday Wisdom | May 13, 2026

In daily devotional, someone has morning Bible study with coffee and cereal.

It’s Wednesday, and time for your daily devotional. Mining God’s goodness is an activity you could never complete in a lifetime. The depths of His love are what make His goodness so rich. There are many examples throughout the Bible that showcase God’s goodness. In today’s daily devotional, God’s goodness shows up in unexpected places.

Goodness of God

In Romans 2, Paul declares that those who judge others’ sins won’t escape condemnation, for they are also guilty. The self-righteous tend to criticize others while sabotaging God’s goodness.  Verse 4 says, “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” In your daily devotional, don’t overlook God’s goodness that provides space for you to repent.

A New Life

Two women from idolatrous nations accepted the God of Israel and were planted in the House of the Lord. Rahab, a prostitute from Jericho, hid the spies Joshua sent to scout out the land. She was convinced that Israel’s God was the true and living God. Rahab understood that her city was doomed because of Israel’s God, and she was willing to forsake her country and her gods to align herself with God Almighty.

Rahab believed God’s goodness would provide an escape for her and her family if she put her trust in Him. She embraced her conversion from old beliefs. In your daily devotional, repentance involves turning and stepping into a new life that God’s goodness provides.

Don’t Despise God’s Goodness

Rahab became the great-great-grandmother of King David and a part of the lineage of Christ. Some scholars disagree that she is the same Rahab who was a harlot in Jericho, believing that such a woman doesn’t belong in Christ’s genealogy. But Romans 2:4 speaks of not despising God’s goodness that leads to repentance. His goodness is on full display when believers are born again and receive new life.

You are no longer a victim of your past. The enemy may try to bring up memories, but he can’t override the goodness of God. In this daily devotional, God removes your sins as though they no longer exist, giving you the confidence to walk forward without looking back.

Whither Thou Goest

Ruth was a Moabitess from a country cursed by God. Moab was an enemy of Israel, and they were not to enter God’s temple. Yet when famine struck Bethlehem, Naomi’s family went to Moab to get food. They lived there, and her two sons married Moabite women. Then tragedy struck when her husband and sons died. Naomi heard there was bread in Bethlehem. As she headed back, she urged her two daughters-in-law to return to Moab.

One daughter-in-law agreed and departed, but Ruth wouldn’t budge. Having experienced God’s goodness, she vowed never to leave Naomi’s side. In Ruth 1:16, she proclaims, “Whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.” Ruth had come to know the God of Israel through Naomi and had put her trust in Him. In your daily devotional, when you put your trust in God, you can have confidence in His goodness.

God’s Goodness is Extended to You

In Wednesday’s daily devotional, Ruth vowed to God that only death would part her and Naomi. She was willing to renounce the idolatrous gods of Moab and worship the God of her salvation. In today’s daily devotional, God’s goodness extended to a prostitute and idolater, and it continues to extend to whoever will receive it.
