Bible open on a table with a candle beside it, Daily Devotion, candlelight

Happy Monday! It’s time for your daily devotional. As Jesus was nearing the end of His earthly ministry, He imparted key teachings to His disciples. He began preparing them for His imminent departure. Confused, they wanted to follow Jesus, but didn’t perceive the way. In your daily devotional, Jesus reveals that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

The Way, The Truth, and The Life

In John 14, Jesus has a heartfelt conversation with His disciples. In verse 1, He says, “Let not your heart be troubled.”He knows they’re dismayed, but He encourages them by saying, “I go to prepare a place for you.” He tells them that they know the way, yet Thomas protests that they neither know where He’s going nor the way.

Then Jesus proclaims, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” In your daily devotional, allow Jesus to replace your uncertainty with trust that all you need is in Him.

One With the Father

In verse 7, Jesus tells them they’ve known and seen the Father through Him. Not understanding this, Philip asks that Jesus show them the Father. Seeing they haven’t comprehended that He is a reflection of the Father, He declares, “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.” Jesus asks if they believe this, for to walk in faith, you must walk in the truth of who Jesus is.

Jesus openly revealed in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one,” to which His opponents picked up stones to kill Him, accusing Him of blasphemy. In this daily devotional, Jesus’ very works confirm that He is indeed in the Father. As a follower of Christ, you must believe what God’s word says about the Master.

The Word is Truth

Jesus is not just one way among countless ways to God. In John 10:9, He declared that He is the Door, the only way to salvation. And Jesus is the Word, as John 1:1 declares, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Then verse 14 says, “the Word was made flesh.”

John goes on to exclaim that Jesus dwelt among them “full of grace and truth.” Jesus’ identity as the Word of God confirms He is Truth, for God’s word is truth. Jesus is the Source, Creator, and Sustainer of life, and through Him you have eternal life. In today’s daily devotional, always hold on to Jesus’ words; they reveal who He is.

You’ll Do Greater Works

Jesus has to shift their thinking. He continues to guide and encourage His disciples, who’ll be carrying on His work. Though they feel unprepared, He continues to pour into them all that the Father has given Him. In verses 12-13, He affirms that they will do greater works after He goes to the Father, and whatever they ask in His name, He will do it. He has commanded them to love one another, and now tells them in verse 15, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” In your daily devotional, the only way to walk with the Lord is to obey His word.

Jesus Is With You Always

In Monday’s daily devotional, Jesus assures His disciples that He will not leave them comfortless. He promises in verse 18, “I will come to you.” Thus, Jesus assures you His presence will be with you always. In today’s daily devotional, rest in Jesus’ sixth “I Am” statement, for He is “the way and the truth and the life.”
