Daily Devotional Wednesday Wisdom | April 15, 2026

In daily devotional, an open Bible sits by a door.

It’s Wednesday, and time for your midweek daily devotional. There’s been some debate over whether there is only one way to salvation. Some say there are multiple ways or belief systems. Some even say that claiming there’s only one way to salvation is too exclusive or narrow-minded. However, in Jesus’ third “I AM” statement, He declares, “I am the door.” In today’s daily devotional, you must decide if you believe Jesus’ words or man’s opinions.

Door of the Sheep

In John 10:1-5, Jesus is teaching by parable, using the imagery of a sheepfold. It’s something the Jews could easily relate to since they were keepers of livestock, such as sheep. In this story,  the shepherd enters the sheepfold through the door; the porter opens it, and the sheep recognize the shepherd’s voice. The sheep won’t follow strangers, but they follow the shepherd.

Verse 6 says the crowd doesn’t understand the parable’s meaning. Jesus plainly tells them He is the door of the sheep, and others who came before Him, claiming to be, were not. Jesus is your way to salvation, and He is the only one authorized by God to lead His flock. In your daily devotional, when you know your Shepherd’s voice, you won’t listen to strangers.

Robbers and Thieves

In society, many proclaimed pastors, called shepherds, have fallen from grace. Many have been accused of deplorable acts in the media. However, Jesus explains to the crowd that some came before Him, claiming to lead the way to salvation. They may’ve gained an audience or followers who truly believed their words. But they weren’t appointed to lead them. Their claims that they’d been sent from God were not true. In this daily devotional, only the Son was sent from Heaven by the Father to lead His people.

I Am the Door

In verse 9, Jesus says explicitly,” I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” A door is the proper entrance to any structure. When someone climbs in through a window or creates another entrance, they do not have rightful access. Jesus identifies Himself as the One given true access by the Father. In today’s daily devotional, you cannot be reconciled to the Father without Jesus. He is the entryway to God.

The Life-Giver

In verse 10, Jesus goes into more detail about the thief — he comes to steal, kill, and destroy.  Thieves, or false shepherds, don’t have the sheep’s best interests at heart. They operate in greed, pride, and other exploitative measures to take advantage of the sheep. However, Jesus declares, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Jesus demonstrated His care for the sheep. In this daily devotional, Jesus’ ministry was marked by teaching, preaching, and healing, efforts to bring people into salvation and a relationship with God, not to exploit them.

Jesus is Your Door

In Wednesday’s daily devotional, in the Old Testament, God sent those who pointed to Jesus, but there is only one Son. The Apostle John gives this testimony in 1 John 5:11: “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” God hasn’t given multiple ways to eternal life or different pathways for salvation. In this daily devotional, Jesus’ third “I AM” statement is “I am the Door.” Trust Him to be your only Door.
