The Miami Heat’s arena has decided that what it really needed was not one but two fast-food chains that only exist in a video game. Burger Shot and Cluckin’ Bell are both now operating inside the Kaseya Center, which means you can eat fictional junk food while watching real basketball. Is this the most absurd marketing stunt of the decade or just Rockstar testing how far fans will go for a branded wrapper?
The Menu Is Not What You Think
Here is the thing nobody wants to hear: the burgers are not special. Fans at the Heat’s home opener told GameSpot that Burger Shot is selling the exact Skinny Louie smash burgers the arena already served, now dressed up in GTA 6 wrappers. Workers even wear Burger Shot shirts and hats to sell the illusion. A cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink runs $28.50 before tax. The applewood bacon version hits $31.
That is stadium pricing for food that existed before Rockstar showed up. The Heartstopper, the seven-patty monster from the games, is nowhere to be found. My bias is clear: this whole thing is a glorified rebrand, and I find it hilarious that anyone expected otherwise.
Cluckin’ Bell Exists Too, Apparently
Burger Shot is hogging the headlines, but Cluckin’ Bell also opened at the arena, setting up in section 325 with chicken sandwiches, tenders and waffle fries, according to the Miami New Times. Fried chicken got the GTA treatment too. Nobody has published the Cluckin’ Bell combo prices yet, but you can bet they are equally painful. Two fictional restaurants in one basketball arena. Rockstar really looked at Miami and said yes, this city needs more fake chicken.
The Big Game Is Against Milwaukee
The Vice City-themed Heat game is officially called A Night in Vice City, and it happens Nov. 18 against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat will wear special uniforms and play on a Vice City-branded court for that one night. Tipoff is 7 p.m. EST, according to the Heat’s official event page. It is also Giannis Antetokounmpo’s first game against Milwaukee since the offseason trade that sent him to Miami, so good luck finding a cheap seat.
Ticket prices are a mess depending on where you look. At the time of writing, TickPick showed a get-in price of $63. RateYourSeats listed a get-in of $231 with a range stretching past $1,800. TicketNetwork had upper-level seats in the $73 to $103 range. Anyone quoting a single number is probably trying to sell you something. GTA 6 launches the next day on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A basketball game as a pre-launch party. Weird but on brand.
That Sign Cost Rockstar Almost a Million Dollars, Just Not the Way You Think
The “Welcome to Vice City” sign on top of the arena did not cost $975,000 to build. That number is the marketing fee Rockstar is paying Miami-Dade County, which owns the Kaseya Center, for the privilege of pretending Miami is Vice City. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava signed the deal under her authority to approve contracts under $1 million without a commission vote, and the money is earmarked for long-promised community land behind the arena, WLRN reported. The agreement keeps the sign up for at least a year, and it cannot come down before the Heat’s last home game of the 2026-27 season on April 11, 2027. So the sign is not going anywhere. Neither is the local political drama over it.
Miami-Dade Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez complained that the game features police officers getting killed and pedestrians getting run over, and he tried to send the money to the sheriff’s office instead, arguing the game glorifies crime. Earlier in September, he and Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz had issued a joint statement rejecting any marketing deal with Rockstar. Commissioner Keon Hardemon, whose district includes the arena, shot back that players choose their own path in the game, joked that shooting at police earns you a five-star wanted level and predicted the partnership would be a “marketing phenomenon.” Bermudez later withdrew his motion. Miami politics are their own video game.
The PC Version Rumor Will Not Die
GamesBeat reported Oct. 13, citing four anonymous industry sources, that GTA 6 is planned for PC in the first quarter of 2027. Rockstar declined to comment and has not confirmed a thing. The console launch is Nov. 19. PC players are used to waiting years for Rockstar ports. GTA 5 took about 19 months to reach PC. A few months would be a miracle. I do not trust it. My bias stands: Rockstar will delay the PC version, and everyone will complain and then buy it anyway.
Now We Know When the Burgers Stop
Burger Shot finally has an expiration date. Skinny Louie announced a partnership with Rockstar on Oct. 26 that turns its participating Florida restaurants, including the Kaseya Center stands, into Burger Shots from early November through Dec. 31. Outside the arena, a Burger Shot Single runs $8.99 and a Double runs $11.99, which makes that $28.50 arena combo look even funnier.
Cluckin’ Bell still has no announced end date. Maybe it stays forever. Maybe it vanishes the day after launch. The sign has a documented expiration. The burgers do now, too. The chicken does not. That is either a brilliant mystery or a sign that nobody planned this far ahead. I lean toward the second option.
This Whole Thing Is Stupid, and I Love It
Look, the food is overpriced, and the branding is meaningless, and the Heartstopper does not exist in real life. But the Heat are playing as Vice City against the Bucks and the arena smells like fried chicken, and Rockstar paid almost a million dollars to put a fake city name on a roof.
Rockstar turned a basketball game into a video game commercial, and we all watched. That is the power of GTA. It makes you care about a burger wrapper. Well played, Rockstar. Terrible for my blood pressure. Great for the content.
