BMW Revives V8 7 Series With New M760 Model

BMW has introduced the M760, a new V8-powered M Performance model that restores a gas-fueled eight-cylinder option to the 7 Series lineup, according to Motor1. The M760 replaces the discontinued 760i and arrives months after the facelifted 7 Series debuted earlier in 2026 without any V8 engine option.

The M760 delivers 570 horsepower, a healthy bump over the 536 hp the old 760i delivered.

What BMW Announced

The BMW M760 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that produces approximately 570 horsepower. That marks a jump from the 536 hp delivered by the outgoing 760i. The M760 comes standard with xDrive all-wheel drive.

BMW also dropped the “i” designation from the model name, historically used for fuel-injected gas cars, reserving it exclusively for electric vehicles.

The new M760 runs on a V8 rather than the V12 that powered the previous M760i, and it carries M Performance rather than full M badging.

What It Means For Fans

For buyers who wanted a V8 in BMW’s flagship sedan, the M760 fills the gap left when the facelifted 7 Series launched without that engine option. The new model will also be sold in Europe, where the 760i never arrived.

Pricing was not announced, but BMW likely will charge more than the $117,395 the discontinued 760i commanded.

What’s Next

BMW’s newly established Alpina sub-brand will launch an upscale V8 version of the 7 Series in 2027. That model will use a specially tuned V8 designed for low-end torque, befitting Alpina’s grand-touring character, rather than matching the M760’s peak horsepower approach.
