BlumFest at New York Comic Con 2026 brought Blumhouse and Atomic Monster to the convention floor with announcements spanning a new subterranean monster film, a RoboCop series for Amazon Prime and a short film deal with horror creator Heidi Wong.

Founder Jason Blum appeared at the panel to discuss how the two production companies pick their projects alongside Atomic Monster, offering a simple explanation for the division of labor. “Whatever James doesn’t want, we do,” Blum said at BlumFest, referring to the companies’ creative sorting process.

Molepeople And New Film Announcements

Atomic Monster unveiled Molepeople, directed by Rob Savage and starring LaKeith Stanfield, described as a subterranean horror film in the vein of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes. “We’re going to scare the living shit out of you,” Savage said at the panel. Filming on Molepeople is set to begin very soon, according to details shared at the panel. More on the film’s cast is available in Total Apex Entertainment’s earlier report on Stanfield joining Molepeople.

The panel also teased Anything But Ghosts, a film starring Curry Barker and Cooper Tomlinson. The story follows a pair of ghost hunter con artists who stumble onto a real haunting and find themselves forced to live up to their own fraudulent reputation.

RoboCop Series And Paranormal Activity Update

Among the bigger reveals, Blumhouse confirmed that RoboCop is being developed as a series for Amazon Prime. Original RoboCop writer Edward Neumeier is attached to the project, with Dan Stevens cast in the title role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Blum also addressed a new Paranormal Activity sequel project during the panel, calling the franchise personally significant to him. “Paranormal Activity is such an emotional movie for me because it’s really how Blumhouse started, and it really gave birth to everything that we’ve done,” Blum said. The panel did not detail a production timeline for the sequel.

Heidi Wong Short Film Deal

Blumhouse Atomic Monster announced a short film development deal with horror creator Heidi Wong, known as “The Horror Queen” to her eight-million-plus followers. “I guess I won’t give too much away about the plot, but I will say it’s inspired by Eastern mythology and folklore and I grew up in Asia, so it’s very close to me,” Wong said at BlumFest.

Wong’s profile has grown significantly in recent years. She landed a spot on Time’s 2025 100 Creators List and Forbes’ 30 Under 30, and her platform reaches a global fanbase of more than eight million followers. Wong taught herself English as a child by reading scary stories, has won six consecutive national art competitions, and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from New York University. Her poetry collection, “Turning to Wallpaper,” earned nominations for the Pushcart Prize and the Dylan Thomas Prize.

Erica Slaughter Film Adaptation

BlumFest also highlighted an Erica Slaughter film featuring the character Erica and a stuffed octopus named Octo with a monster trapped inside. Director Noel Dickinson described Erica as “such a powerful badass” who can “lift axes and dismember 15-foot monsters,” with bone-dry humor amid the horror. “We also see how funny she can be,” Dickinson said.

What’s Next

Blumhouse and Atomic Monster did not disclose production timelines for most projects beyond confirming that Molepeople filming will begin very soon.
