Netflix will premiere Under Siege on Nov. 6, 2026, a fictional series inspired by the 1985 siege of the Palace of Justice in Bogotá, according to Variety. The eight-episode series arrives exactly 41 years after the real events it draws from.
The story is built around the Nov. 6 and 7, 1985, siege, when an M-19 guerrilla commando seized Colombia’s Palace of Justice and took more than 300 people hostage, including Supreme Court justices. The Colombian Army retook the building on Nov. 7, 1985, resulting in the deaths and disappearances of at least 94 people, including justices, guerrilla members, civilians and military personnel.

What We Know About Under Siege
The series does not stay in 1985. It follows the victims’ families in their pursuit of justice for more than 20 years.
The series is directed by Jayro Bustamante, Edgar Nito and Samir Oliveros. Bustamante’s latest feature, Mountains of Fire, represents Guatemala at the Oscars, marking his fourth bid for the award.
Showrunner Natalia Santa wrote the series with Enrique Videla, Enrique Lozano, Jenny Ceballos and Estefanía Piñeres. Santa is known for One Hundred Years of Solitude.
The cast includes Natalia Reyes, known for Terminator: Dark Fate, alongside Carlos Manuel Vesga, Robinson Díaz, Luna Baxter, Mariana Gómez, Santiago Alarcón, Nicole Santamaría, Andrés Castañeda and Camilo Amores, among others.
Dynamo, the Colombian production company behind the series, is marking its 20th anniversary in 2026. The production drew on more than seven years of research based on archives, testimonies and interviews. The team built a main set in Bogotá spanning more than 4,000 square meters, a process that took more than three months, and included a 30-meter structure recreating the original façade of the Palace of Justice.
Why Under Siege Matters For Netflix In Colombia
Variety reported that Under Siege is likely Netflix‘s second most ambitious project in Colombia, trailing only the streamer’s adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude. Francisco Ramos, Netflix’s vice president of Latin American content, said in an earlier interview that authenticity is key at Netflix.
Netflix VP of Latin American Content Francisco Ramos described the production as “a huge undertaking, even by our own standards…and we’re of course, going to take it through what happened through the coup attempt,” stressing that authenticity is key.
