Bayeux Tapestry visitors should get more time to see the British Museum’s exhibition as the institution responds to long queues. Its planned changes cover opening hours, an audio guide, signage and seating, The Art Newspaper reports.
What changes for Bayeux Tapestry visitors
Some ticket holders have reportedly waited up to two hours to enter. In an Oct. 6 clarification, a museum spokesperson said longer hours would help people already in the queue finish their visits, rather than increase ticket sales. The extension will follow the museum’s agreement with France.
The other measures include an audio guide, clearer signs explaining the display and additional seating for visitors who need a break. Exact extended opening times had not been detailed in the report.
A historic loan draws heavy demand
The 11th-century embroidery depicts events leading to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. The museum’s exhibition page describes the roughly 230-foot work as a loan from France running through July 2027.
