Walker Scobell says Nico di Angelo will have a far bigger presence in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 than the character had in his source material, a shift the actor addressed in a new interview tied to the show’s Nov. 20 premiere. Scobell, who plays Percy Jackson, spoke with Entertainment Weekly alongside Levi Chrisopulos, who plays Nico, about how the Disney+ series is adjusting the books’ structure to give the young demigod more screen time.

The season introduces siblings Nico and Bianca di Angelo, played by Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie. Bianca joins Percy on a quest to find Annabeth and the missing goddess Artemis, while Nico stays behind at Camp Half-Blood. In the book this season is based on, The Titan’s Curse, Nico has a smaller presence largely because the story is told entirely from Percy’s point of view.

What Scobell Clarified About Nico

Scobell told Entertainment Weekly that the show will not limit itself to Percy’s perspective the way the book does, which opens the door for Nico to do more than he does on the page. “Nico will be a bigger part of the entire season,” Scobell said, adding, “There are a couple times where we get to see what’s going on at camp, and how Nico’s doing,” according to the outlet.

That structural change matters for fans of Percy Jackson season 3 because it means viewers will track Nico’s story even in moments when Percy himself is off on the quest with Bianca. The books never allow that kind of access, since everything is filtered through Percy’s narration.

Book Accuracy Versus Show Changes

Chrisopulos offered his own take on how faithful the adaptation is to Nico as written. He said the show keeps “solid points of Nico’s personality from the book,” while acknowledging the character has also been adjusted for the series, per Entertainment Weekly. Neither actor detailed exactly which traits were kept or altered in the interview.

Scobell and Chrisopulos both pointed to a mutual respect developing between Percy and Nico, rooted in a shared drive to protect the people they care about. The interview did not go further into how that dynamic plays out scene by scene, but the actors noted the bond carries weight beyond this season, setting up plot points that matter in later books.

What’s Confirmed Versus What’s Teased

It is worth separating what the interview actually confirms from what the season itself will show. Confirmed: Nico and Bianca di Angelo appear this season, Bianca accompanies Percy’s quest while Nico remains at camp, and the series will cut away to camp scenes rather than sticking solely to Percy’s viewpoint. Teased but unspecified: the exact nature of Nico’s expanded storyline, the specific changes made to his book personality, and how far the Percy-Nico relationship develops before the season ends.

Scobell and Chrisopulos did not offer plot specifics beyond what Entertainment Weekly published, and no other casting or story details beyond Nico and Bianca’s introductions have been confirmed for the season.

What’s Next

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 premieres on Disney+ on Nov. 20, bringing Nico di Angelo, played by Chrisopulos, and Bianca di Angelo, played by Abercrombie, into the series for the first time.
