‘The Watcher’ season 2 production starts with cast returning
The Watcher season 2 is officially in production, Variety reported on Friday. Netflix confirmed that Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Margo Martindale and Isabel Gravitt are all returning to reprise their roles from season one, which aired in October 2022.
The renewal comes four years after season one premiered in October 2022 and was renewed in November that year. Production began Friday in New York, according to The Wrap.

Season one followed the Brannock family as they moved into their dream home in the suburbs, only to be tormented by mysterious, ominous letters from someone calling themselves “The Watcher.” The season ended with the family still in peril, and Netflix’s announcement teases that season two is “just the beginning.”
How big was season one
The Watcher made an immediate impact: the first season racked up 125 million hours viewed in its first week and 148 million hours in its second week on Netflix. The first season remained on Netflix’s global top 10 English-language TV list for five weeks and ranked in the top 10 across more than 90 countries.
The series is part of the Ryan Murphy-Ian Brennan slate at Netflix. Their Monster franchise, another collaboration, has surpassed 320 million views across its seasons. The fourth installment, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, recently launched and has already accumulated 26.6 million views.
What’s next
With production now underway in New York, Netflix has not yet announced when season two will premiere. No release window has been shared, and full casting for new roles has not been announced.
