John and Molly Chester are returning to their California farm for the Biggest Little Farm series, a 12-part docuseries launching on YouTube on Nov. 8, 2026. The new series picks up where the couple’s acclaimed 2019 documentary left off, diving deeper into their regenerative farming journey at Apricot Lane Farms in Moorpark, California.

  • Platform: YouTube
  • Episodes: 12 parts
  • Price: Free (presented by Artemis Rising Foundation)

What the series covers

The docuseries spans more than 15 years of filming on location in Ventura County. John Chester directed the original 2019 documentary, which Neon released in May 2019 after it premiered at the Telluride Film Festival. That film chronicled the Chesters’ efforts to establish their farm and highlighted regenerative agriculture and sustainable ecosystems where people and animals thrive together.

The new series answers the question many fans have asked: what happened after the documentary ended. According to Chester, the farm’s challenges never stopped. “The truth is, nature never stopped challenging our sometimes embarrassing attempts to coexist with her,” he said. The series documents both setbacks and moments of discovery that kept the Chesters hopeful about their work.

Why it matters

The original The Biggest Little Farm brought attention to regenerative farming and sustainable ecosystems at a time when these topics were gaining prominence in conversations about food and the environment. Before the couple began farming, Molly Chester brought her experience as a Los Angeles private chef to Apricot Lane Farms, where she had specialized in food preparation focused on digestive wellness.

Chester hopes the series will shift how people think about nature and resilience. “If more people understood the ways nature endures, adapts, and recovers, we might see a little less gloom and more possibility for the future,” he said. The decision to stream the series free on YouTube through the Artemis Rising Foundation reflects Chester’s commitment to sharing the farm’s story with a global audience.

What’s next

The Biggest Little Farm series premieres on YouTube on Nov. 8, 2026. The docuseries is produced by FarmLore Films, LLC, with Chester, Erica Messer, Regina K. Scully and Sandra Keats serving as executive producers. Alex Somers composed the series music.
