Daily Devotional Tuesday Thoughts | September 1, 2026
It’s Tuesday and time for your daily devotional. A new day, a new month, and a new life is now yours. Everything’s new on this side of the cross because of Jesus’ redeeming work. You’ve been justified by faith and made righteous by God’s grace. In today’s daily devotional, you have reasons to celebrate: redemption, justification, and righteousness.
Faith Gives You Access
In Romans 5:1, Paul declares, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Never underestimate the power of faith. Your faith led you to reconciliation with God. Paul affirms that faith gives you access to God’s grace. You both stand and receive by faith, for faith puts you in a position to receive from God. In your daily devotional, faith pleases God, so stand in faith and rejoice in hope. All the promises of God, now and in the future, are yours.
God’s Free Gift
Paul reveals God’s great love, which sent Jesus, even when you were estranged. Dying for someone else is no easy decision; most people wouldn’t dare, but verse 8 says, “God commendeth his love toward us while we were yet sinners.” While in this state, “Christ died for us.” And if God delivered you from death by His Son’s death, you now have life because of Christ’s life.
Sin entered the world by one man, who passed death to all men. But as Adam’s transgression brought death, God’s free gift, Jesus, brought life. With the law, sin increased, but grace increases even more. Sin caused death to reign, but grace reigns “unto eternal life by Jesus Christ.” In this daily devotional, grace wins hands down, and God gets all the glory!
Righteousness Gives Freedom
Because of the abounding nature of God’s grace, a question arises that Paul addresses in Romans 6:1: “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?” When anyone asks this question or uses this reasoning, they’re trying to live on the edge. Or they want to indulge in sin without consequences. But sin leads to death, undermining one’s freedom in Christ.
Sin brings bondage, but righteousness gives freedom. Paul uses the analogy of baptism, for it’s a symbol of dying to sin and rising to newness of life. Your old man was crucified with Christ, meaning sin was destroyed, freeing you from servanthood. In your daily devotional, now that the old man is dead, the new man is alive in Christ. Therefore, sin no longer reigns in your life.
A New Life in Christ
Paul ends chapter 6 with “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” While living a new life in Christ, your old man will try to raise its ugly head and bring you back into bondage. He’ll tempt you with cravings of fleshly things you once enjoyed. You’ll have to resist your flesh, or put it under subjection, as Paul teaches. In this daily devotional, just because temptation knocks doesn’t mean you have to open the door.
Rejoice and Stand in Your Freedom
In Tuesday’s daily devotional, now that you’re free, rejoice and stand in your freedom. God has made you an overcomer through Christ Jesus, and neither Satan nor his evil host can pull you back into bondage. As Minister Nancy Dufresne says, “Christ paid too high of a price for your freedom.” In today’s daily devotional, because of Christ, you walk in the newness of life. You’ve been redeemed, justified, and made righteous.
