Disney+ released the first full-length trailer for “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” season 3 on Monday, previewing the coming war between the Greek gods and the Titans, according to Deadline. The footage draws from Rick Riordan’s third book in the series, “The Titan’s Curse,” and sets up a quest that puts several young demigods in direct danger.

“There’s a war coming between the gods and the Titans, and if we’re going to survive it, we must join forces,” Percy says in the trailer. The show’s official X account paired the footage with a blunter warning: “Victory will require sacrifice.” That message frames a season built around captures, rescues and a growing threat from the Titan lord Kronos and his followers, led on the ground by Luke Castellan (Charlie Bushnell).

What the trailer shows

The trailer opens with Percy and his friends trying to win over Thalia Grace (Tamara Smart), the daughter of Zeus who returned at the end of season 2. They need her help to rescue two young demigods who don’t yet know what they are: Nico and Bianca di Angelo, children of Hades played by Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie.

Then the mission goes sideways. Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries) is captured by Luke’s forces and taken to California, where the Titan Atlas (Holt McCallany) forces her to hold up the sky. That crushing weight is Atlas’ own punishment, handed down by Zeus after the Titans lost their first war with the gods.

Monsters get screen time too. The trailer gives fans their first real look at Talos, a towering bronze automaton that Percy and his allies run into at the Junkyard of the Gods.

A bigger Olympus

Walker Scobell returns as Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon racing to free Annabeth from the Titans’ grip. He’ll have plenty of divine company. Kate McKinnon plays Aphrodite, Ming-Na Wen plays Hera, Jennifer Beals plays Demeter, Hubert Smielecki plays Apollo and Dafne Keen plays Artemis, the goddess in chains Percy must free. Saara Chaudry joins as Zoë Nightshade, lieutenant of the Hunters of Artemis.

Familiar faces from Olympus are back as well, including Courtney B. Vance as Zeus, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes and Adam Copeland as Ares.

Why “The Titan’s Curse” matters

“The Titan’s Curse” marks a turning point in Riordan’s novels, introducing the Hunters of Artemis and the di Angelo siblings while escalating the conflict between Olympus and the Titans. Annabeth’s capture and the sky-bearing ordeal are pivotal moments from that book, and their place in the trailer suggests the show is tracking closely with the source material. It’s also the first time the novel has been adapted for the screen.

What’s next

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” season 3 premieres with two episodes Friday, Nov. 20, on Disney+ and Hulu, followed by two new episodes each week. The season continues the show’s book-by-book approach, adapting the third of Riordan’s five original novels.
