What We Know About Never Surrender
The story centers on a grandfather living alone in a small village in Central Java who takes in two grandchildren he has not seen in a long time, according to Netflix. A group of ruthless criminals from Jakarta storms his home, forcing him to draw on combat skills to protect his family from the syndicate, Netflix said.
Netflix described the film as a mix of high-stakes action and a family drama, following the emotional journey of three generations as they rebuild trust amid grief and atonement for the past.
The cast includes Lukman Sardi, Callista Arum, Sulthan Hamonangan, Derby Romero and Donny Alamsyah, per Netflix. Sidharta Tata directed the film, which was produced by Edwin Nazir and Kimo Stamboel.
Why It Matters For Fans Of Netflix Thrillers
Never Surrender adds to Netflix’s slate of international action thrillers built around family stakes rather than ensemble casts. The premise, an older protagonist with a hidden combat background defending his home, gives the film a distinct angle within the home-invasion subgenre.
What’s Next
Never Surrender premieres Nov. 12 exclusively on Netflix.
