What to watch this weekend: The best new movies streaming this weekend give couch-bound viewers a direct line to titles that spent the summer in theaters, from a Steven Spielberg science fiction thriller to the latest entry in the Evil Dead franchise. Six titles stand out for Oct. 9, landing on Peacock, HBO Max, Paramount+ and Apple TV, according to Variety and Decider.

What To Watch This Weekend: Oct. 9th-11th

Disclosure Day (Peacock)

Steven Spielberg’s science fiction thriller Disclosure Day makes its streaming debut on Peacock after a theatrical run, according to Variety. The film earned $241 million worldwide at the box office over the summer, making it one of the season’s bigger theatrical draws now available to stream.

The Invite (HBO Max)

The Invite, a highly acclaimed comedy centered on two couples at a dinner party, debuts on HBO Max this weekend. The film brought in $58 million worldwide during its summer theatrical run, per Variety.

Evil Dead Burn (HBO Max)

Horror fans get a Halloween-season option with Evil Dead Burn, the ninth installment in the long-running Evil Dead franchise, now streaming on HBO Max. The film’s arrival lines up with the broader seasonal push toward horror content that typically builds through October.

Minions & Monsters (Peacock)

The Despicable Me franchise adds another chapter with Minions & Monsters, an animated family film now streaming on Peacock. The movie earned $523 million at the summer box office, the highest total among this weekend’s new streaming arrivals, according to Variety.

Avatar: Seven Havens (Paramount+)

Avatar: Seven Havens becomes available to stream on Paramount+ starting Oct. 9, according to The Hollywood Reporter‘s most-watched charts.

Matchbox: The Movie (Apple TV)

Apple TV adds Matchbox: The Movie to its lineup on Oct. 9, according to Decider.

Viewers weighing options this weekend have a mix of genres across four services: a big-budget science fiction thriller and family animation on Peacock, an acclaimed comedy and a horror sequel on HBO Max, plus two additional titles rounding out Paramount+ and Apple TV.
