Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation released the first teaser trailer for “Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara” on Oct. 18, 2026, confirming the CG anime project will debut in 2027. A new key visual arrived alongside the footage, according to Anime News Network.
The project is described as “a story about kaiju and girls” aimed at viewers worldwide, with the official website framing it as “A Tale of Kaiju and A Girl” built to showcase Japanese animation craft and new technology for audiences of all ages overseas, according to Crunchyroll.
What The “Kaiju Decode” Teaser Trailer Reveals
The teaser trailer and its companion key visual mark the first new material tied to the Ring of Aidara chapter of the Kaiju Decode franchise. The story is set in Sakai, Osaka prefecture, and follows two opposing characters seeking a shared future.
Maru is a youth living in the City, a society Crunchyroll describes as freed from the restrictions of body, mind, space and time. Coco is a girl of the Aidara tribe who lives in the Zone, a dangerous region where kaiju roam, according to Anime News Network.
Release Date, Creative Team And Cast
“Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara” is scheduled to debut in 2027, though neither source has specified an exact date. The project comes from Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation as a CG anime effort.
Katsuie Shibata, known for “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Isekai,” wrote the screenplay. Monster designs come from Masayuki Gotou, who worked on “SSSS.Dynazenon.” Sei Nakashima, a Hollywood CG art director whose credits include end-credits illustrations for “Mewtwo Strikes Back – Evolution” and concept work on “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” designed the character Maru.
Masatsugu Saitō, who worked on “Cyborg 009 Call of Justice,” designed Coco. JNTHED, known for “Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury,” illustrated the new teaser visual.
Aya Yamane voices Maru, and Karin Takahashi voices Coco. Kouichi Noguchi of Toei Animation, whose credits include “Expelled from Paradise” and “Kado: The Right Answer,” and Masahiro Onda of Tsuburaya, who worked on “Ultraman Zero The Movie” and “SSSS.Gridman,” are co-producing the project.
Why Fans Care About the “Kaiju Decode” Franchise
The “Kaiju Decode” project was revealed in November 2019. A full anime short streamed in December 2021 on the Tsuburaya Imagination website, and a VR anime short called “Kaiju Decode: First Contact” released the same day for Oculus Quest. Both were labeled the first part of the overall project.
The gap between that 2021 material and the new teaser shows the franchise has continued moving forward with a larger creative team now attached, blending Tsuburaya’s kaiju pedigree with Toei Animation’s production resources.
What’s Next
No exact 2027 release date or format has been announced for “Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara.” Fans can expect further details, including casting and a firm release window, as Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation continue promoting the project ahead of its 2027 debut.
