Jeep has revealed the 2027 Wrangler Switchback, the twelfth and final special edition in its yearlong Twelve 4 Twelve campaign. The Switchback is built on the Wrangler Rubicon X platform and stands out with intentionally mismatched body panels, a design choice meant to echo the look some Wrangler owners end up with after off-road damage or custom builds, according to Car and Driver.
The two-door version starts at $66,695 including a $1,995 destination charge, while the four-door model starts at $69,995 with destination included, according to Motor1. Buyers who want the full Switchback look can add the personalization package for $2,870 on top of the Rubicon X base price. Orders open in November 2026.
Design And Equipment On The 2027 Jeep Wrangler Switchback
The signature feature of the Switchback is its swapped body-color scheme. Some units pair a black hood with gray doors, while others flip the combination with a gray hood and black doors, all built around a two-tone mix of Gloss Black and Sting-Gray, according to Motor1. Jeep added Gecko-colored accents to the grille surround, hood graphic, beadlock wheel rings and swing-gate decal to set off the contrasting panels.
Inside, the Switchback gets black Nappa leather seats with the Switchback name debossed into the upholstery, along with Sea Salt Nappa-trimmed dash elements and pearl-and-lime accent stitching. A special cupholder plaque and a swing-gate plaque mark each vehicle as part of the final Twelve 4 Twelve build, according to Motor1.
Jeep also built the mismatched effect into the assembly process itself. The automaker sequenced black and gray Wranglers together on the line on purpose, so matching pairs roll through production in tandem before their panels get swapped, creating the contrasting look, according to Motor1.

How The Switchback Fits The Wrangler Lineup
The Switchback caps a 12-month run of special editions that Jeep launched to mark 85 years of the brand building SUVs, with one new release arriving each month through 2026. Earlier entries in the Twelve 4 Twelve series included the retro-styled Wrangler Rewind and the V8-powered Wrangler Moab 392, according to Motor1.
Jeep brand CEO Branden Coté said the campaign “unleashed creativity across the Jeep brand, bringing teams together to reimagine an icon through different perspectives while staying true to what has always defined Wrangler,” according to Motor1.
What’s Next
Jeep dealers will begin taking orders for the 2027 Wrangler Switchback in November 2026. As the final release in the Twelve 4 Twelve series, the Switchback closes out a campaign that spent 2026 pairing the Wrangler with a different special edition each month to mark the brand’s 85th year building SUVs.
