2. “Below” — Oct. 8 on Netflix

3. “Beware Boiúna” — Oct. 2, Lionsgate
A giant snake stalks a medical mission in the Amazon in Mike P. Nelson’s latest thriller. The director of “Wrong Turn” and “Silent Night, Deadly Night” works with Jessica Rothe, Kiana Madeira and Logan Marshall-Green.
4. “Other Mommy” — Oct. 9, Universal Pictures
Chastain plays both Bela’s mother and the entity that resembles her. Jay Duplass plays the girl’s father, and Arabella Olivia Clark plays Bela. Rob Savage directs the adaptation of Josh Malerman’s “Incidents Around the House,” according to Universal’s announcement.
5. “Whalefall” — Oct. 16, 20th Century Studios
Austin Abrams plays a diver trapped inside a sperm whale with his oxygen running out. Brian Duffield directs, with Josh Brolin and Elisabeth Shue also in the cast. The studio’s film page confirms the release date.
6. “Clayface” — Oct. 23, Warner Bros. Pictures
James Watkins directs the Batman villain’s body-horror origin story, starring Tom Rhys Harries and Naomi Ackie. Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini share screenplay credit. Flanagan has described his limited involvement after turning in his script.
