MSI 2026 Match Preview – Bilibili Gaming Versus Hanwha Life Esports: A Potential Grand Finals Preview
With G2 Esports’ elimination of T1 from MSI, two favorites remain. Bilibili Gaming and Hanwha Life Esports look primed to battle it out for the MSI title. HLE comes into the series after a dominant victory over G2 Esports. BLG, on the other hand, had a narrow 3-0 win over the LCS first seed, LYON. Will the winner of the series be the MSI victor on Sunday?
Undeafeted HLE Roster
HLE has yet to drop a game at this year’s MSI. They powered past Team Secret Whales and G2 Esports in their matches. BLG lost two games to T1 in their opening series, and came close to losing to LYON. Can BLG become the first team to take a game off the LCK first seed?
Featured Matchup

Knight Versus Zeka
Every matchup in this series is an epic one. We have seen Bin versus Zeus, Kanavi versus XUN, and Gumayusi versus Viper on numerous occasions. Zeka has faced Knight a few times before. The previous meeting was at the 2024 World Championship. It is the only best-of-five series the two have played against each other. Knight won that matchup. Knight has been on a tear in recent months as arguably the best player in the world. Zeka is not far off, having a massive step up for HLE.
A Potential Finals Matchup
Heading into MSI, many expected HLE and BLG to be the MSI finalists. Now those expectations have increased after T1 lost to G2 Esports. While they will need to get past the winner of the LYON and G2 Esports series, they are the favorites. HLE and BLG beat G2 and LYON 3-0, respectively. Neither Western team has the solo laners to match HLE and BLG.
Whoever wins the series will have a significant advantage. The team that enters the Grand Final through the Upper Bracket gets to pick their side and pick order. The momentum will also be key to help in the Grand Final. All the previous MSI winners, since the inclusion of double elimination, have all been from the Upper Bracket.
The Topside is Key
Both HLE and BLG index towards their solo laners. They want one of them to have a significant advantage over their counterpart. Expect ON and Delight to visit their solo lanes multiple times during the laning phase. That will leave Viper and Gumayusi alone in the bot lane. Both players have shown they can play solo.
That also raises the question of Mages in the bot lane. Both of them will pick Mages if the team needs it. With both teams looking for early lane leads, the early game will become bloody. Neither team wants to give up ground early. HLE is perhaps the more aggressive of the two, but BLG is not far behind. Whoever gets leads from the early game could snowball to victory.
Prediction

Bilibili Gaming 2-3 Hanwha Life Esports
Calling this one is difficult. Either team could win on the right day. Overall, the edge goes to HLE. They have looked more dominant at MSI so far, and are a more complete team. While BLG can win in the early game, they tend to fall off as the game goes on. They still have the clutch factor, as we saw in their series against LYON. On an individual player level, there is not much separating the players. Any of them could compete for the best player in their role at the tournament.
The Grand Final Awaits
The winner of the series advances to the Grand Final on Sunday. They will gain the advantage of a rest day and will earn the right of first selection for both sides and pick order. The loser of the series will wait in the Lower Bracket Final for the winner between G2 Esports and LYON.
