LCK 2026 Round 4 Day 16 Recap: Gen.G Avoids Defeat Against a Desperate KT
Gen.G Esports ended Week 12 of the LCK in first place. They needed one series victory this week to secure a spot in Round 2. That win came today against KT Rolster. It was not a comfortable victory, but they got the job done. Their win also locked T1 in for the playoffs. HANJIN BRION have all but secured a top-two finish in the Rise Group. They need one more series victory to be first place for the LCK Play-Ins.
KT Rolster Almost Upset Gen.G Esports
After a dominant Game 1, everyone expected the series to end quickly. However, KT battled back, taking a dominant win of their own. They were even primed to win the series and alter the entire Legend Group. With a 5k gold lead and Baron, KT were in the ascendancy.
All it took was a monumental fight from Gen.G to recover. Ruler burned all of his Summoner Spells to survive the engagement. Canyon also had a perfect Impale to slow the fight down. With Ruler and Gen.G building more items, KT’s timer had expired. They could not get onto Caitlyn, and Gen.G stabilized to win the series. They secured a top two spot in the Legend Group with the victory. Fortunately for KT, the game victory keeps their hopes of a playoff spot alive.

DN SOOPers Streak Comes to an End
After eight consecutive series victories, including the Kespa Cup, DNS’s run has come to an end. They were second-best in the series against BRO. While they had a lead in game one, Namgung snatched it away with multiple multi-player Pop Blossom engagements. DNS could not hold on, and they fell to an Ocean Soul BRO. Game two did not get off to the greatest start for DNS until they found their target. DNS kept Casting behind for most of the game until BRO decided to help him out.
After two plays where BRO punished DNS’s focus on Casting, they stormed ahead in the game. Even with good ultimates from Peter and Sharvel, DNS was too far behind. GIDEON, Roamer, and Teddy tore through the entire DNS team as they held on. BRO’s win in the series moves them to 10 wins, making them the only Rise Group team with that record. If BRO defeats BFX on Friday, they will secure first place in the Rise Group.

T1 Locked Playoffs
With Gen.G’s 2-1 victory over KT in the day’s opening series, T1 has qualified for the playoffs. KT still has a chance to reach the playoffs thanks to their game two victory. They will need to be perfect in their series against T1, while Dplus KIA must lose both of theirs without winning a game. KT showed more fight in this series than they have in recent weeks. They will also need a win over T1 in their final series of the week to head into the post-season in good spirits. Gen.G will start the LCK playoff stage in Round 2. Either Hanwha Life Esports, T1, or Dplus KIA will join them in that round.
