Before Exit: Gas Station is a creepy gas station simulation with a deep mystery and odd happenings. The Daylight DLC adds another dimension to the story by bringing in the original protagonist’s significant other. She’s searching for him, and she’s brought her camera to capture the evidence. And that evidence is bizarre and will create more questions than answers!

Before Exit: Gas Station, Daylight DLC Story & Gameplay

In the base game, you play as Edgar, an employee of the gas station who works at night cleaning things up and closing it down. Strange things happen, and you have a constant feeling that something is wrong there. In the Midnight DLC, you work even later and discover some really unusual situations. Daylight takes this all and changes it completely.

In Daylight, you play as Lucy, the significant other of Edgar. It’s clear from the start that she’s searching for him, and she’s convinced something odd is going on at this gas station. So she’s armed with a camera and looking for evidence.

This time, the gameplay requires you to look all around the gas station in search of anomalies. These could be as simple as something that’s different or out of place, or as creepy as the sign reading “Stop looking” over the owner’s grinning face. Some of the anomalies are obvious, and some eluded me altogether. And there are more than enough to keep you searching.

The Controls

In the base game, most actions were pretty straightforward. Manipulating objects was generally simple. In Daylight, it’s a little trickier. For example, you see a pair of shoes walking around in the garage. You point the camera and click, but it doesn’t register as an anomaly. Sometimes it took several attempts to get just the right angle for it to register. Sometimes, after so many attempts, I decided I must be mistaken about something and gave up (only to fail the day and have to do it again).

So, though taking photos is simple, it does require some trial and error.

The Atmosphere

It’s daytime (obviously), so you’d think it would be less disturbing. But this DLC is equally as creepy as the original. You never know what you’re going to see when you come around a corner. Strange noises from a garbage can may herald something peeking out. Thumping in the ice bin might tell you there’s something there. And, at the end of each week, you come back at night and discover actual information.

The gas station itself is the same, except you cannot go into the stock room. The music remains mysterious and keeps you a little on edge. And the owner is just standing there, grinning. I shudder remembering him there. That grin.

I frequently wondered why on Earth Lucy is investigating on her own. Some of this stuff would send normal people running for the hills.

Final Verdict

Before Exit: Gas Station, Daylight DLC – Total Apex Media

Buy it. If you’ve already played Before Exit: Gas Station, you absolutely should play both DLCs. Despite the difficulty with some photos, I kept playing to find more strange anomalies. I’ll definitely be going back in to find more, even though I finished it. Seriously, it’s that addictive.

As of today, April 14, 2026, the Daylight DLC is $2.99. If you don’t have the base game, it’s just $4.99 right now, which is a 50% discount. And the Midnight DLC is currently $3.19, which is 20% off. The promotional price on the base game (and probably Midnight) ends on April 17, 2026. So don’t wait. Grab it now. That’s a deal for how much play time you’ll get.
