Game Review: Nippets, A Cozy Hidden Objects Game on Steam

Nippets is a cozy hidden-object game released on Steam on April 7, 2026. At first glance, you’d think this is just your average puzzle game with nice graphics. But once you’re into the game, you’ll find so many engaging features that you’ll want to keep coming back.

What’s Different About Nippets?

The art style is the first thing you’ll notice when you see this game. The hand-drawn art is colorful and just so much fun to look at. The scenes are animated, so trees move as if blown by a breeze, and characters move throughout.

Like most hidden-object games, the items you’re looking for are shown at the bottom of your screen, but the magic starts when you click on each of them. A little story is revealed, which contains clues about the item (shown as an outline) to help you discover what you’re looking for, where it is, and what to do with it. We’ll get deeper into gameplay in a moment.

As you search for items, you’ll discover that you can open doors, windows, and containers. And you can even go inside some buildings to find little scenes with more to uncover. There are secrets that yield achievements and awards (like clicking all of the birds). You’ll be drawn into the little world that has been drawn for you, and you’ll keep coming back.

The Gameplay

The game starts with a tutorial, which I found very helpful to learn the basics. Not that this game is complicated. It isn’t. But it’s not as simple as finding an item and clicking on it. Once you’ve found the item you’re looking for, you have to figure out where that item goes. I’ll explain.

Throughout the scene, various characters have lost something or need something. Those are the items you’re looking for. Find the item, read the little story that’s attached to it, then find where the item belongs. You’ll love the result.

Sometimes, multiple steps are required. For example, in the Summer scene, there are swimming pools where the swimmers want to use inflatables. These are nearby, but they’re deflated. The missing object is the air pump. Once you find the air pump, use it on the first inflatable, click the pump and slide it down, then up (down first or it won’t work) to inflate the pink flamingo. Click the flamingo, give it to the right person, then repeat for the remaining two inflatables. Not all of the puzzles have this many steps. Sometimes you’re just collecting something and delivering it.

The Good and the Bad

In case you didn’t figure it out yet, I really like this game. Here’s what I like about it:

  • The art style is beautiful.
  • The music is relaxing, and you can zoom in to hear more environmental sounds.
  • Discovering more things by clicking around the title screen, collecting awards on the fridge, and the cats.
  • The gameplay is engaging and surprising. The little stories are fun to read.

What I didn’t care for:

  • It’s difficult sometimes to manipulate objects. Particularly, the air pump required some experimentation.
  • There’s no hint system, aside from the little stories.

Final Verdict

Nippets Playthrough Spring: Total Apex Media

Nippets is definitely worth your time. It has a laid-back feeling. You aren’t rushed through anything, and you can come back to scenes. The kitchen and the refrigerator with the magnets occupied more time than I would have expected. Play with the magnets. It’s fun.

The game is available now on Steam. It has a 10% discount, which ends on April 21, so it will only set you back $11.69. And, if you aren’t convinced (and even if you are), check out my playthrough of the first scene, Spring, in the video above.
