The countdown to one of this fall’s more intriguing isekai debuts just got a cast update. The Nia Liston anime, adapted from the light novel series “Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden,” has added four new voice actors ahead of its Oct. 6 premiere, Anime News Network reported.

Saeko Kamijo joins as Essera Blanket, personal maid to the youngest daughter of the Silver family. Hitomi Ueda voices Raffine Silver, the eldest of the family’s daughters, while Azusa Tadokoro takes on Riculvitar Silver, the second-oldest. Ayaka Ohashi rounds out the group as Lilimi Silver, the third-oldest daughter.

They join a cast that already includes Honoka Inoue as Nia Liston, Rina Honnizumi as Hildetora Altoir and Rina Hidaka as Reliared Silver. Other previously announced voices include Fuka Izumi as Rinokis Funk, Taku Yashiro as Anzel, Yoko Hikasa as Fressa, Satoshi Hino as Gandolf Rogen, Junichi Suwabe as Hyurence Altoire and Maaya Uchida as Sharro White. With the latest additions, the announced cast now stands at 17.

What the Nia Liston anime is about

The story comes from a light novel series written by Umikaze Minamino. J-Novel Club, which releases the novels digitally in English, describes the premise this way: “A great hero lies undefeated on her deathbed, regretting that she never found a foe who could take her down.” That setup gives the story its hook, flipping the usual isekai script by putting a legendary warrior at the center of a reincarnation tale instead of an ordinary person suddenly gaining power.

Minamino first posted the story as a free web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro, running it from 2019 to 2021. Hobby Japan’s print edition followed in September 2022. Jishaku illustrated the early books, and Katana Canata has handled the art since Vol. 3. The 12th volume hit Japanese shelves Oct. 1, less than a week before the TV debut.

Manga readers have their own version, too. Artist Kabuto Kodai’s adaptation has run on Square Enix’s Manga UP! app since 2022, with collected volumes in print since May 2023 and an English release through Manga UP! Global. Vol. 9 is due Oct. 7, the day after the anime premieres.

Who’s behind the Nia Liston anime

Konami Animation is producing the series, with Motoki Nakanishi, whose credits include “Love Is Indivisible by Twins,” directing and Haruta Segi serving as assistant director. Gigaemon Ichikawa is handling the series scripts, while Yuki Ito and Kana Tosaoka are working together on character designs. Naoki Endo is composing the score, and Hiromi Kikuta, a veteran of “Blue Period” and “Haikyu!!,” is directing sound.

Music fans should also take note of who’s handling the Nia Liston anime’s theme songs. VTuber Tsunomaki Watame performs the opening theme, “Respawn!!,” and Magic Vision Girls Party, a unit made up of the characters Nia, Hildetora and Reliared, performs the ending theme, “Tokimeki Un・Deux・Trois♪.”

Tapping a VTuber’s vocal talent for an anime opening has become a growing trend, and it’s the kind of detail that tends to get noticed in both the anime and VTuber fan communities.

The Nia Liston anime is confirmed to run for two consecutive cours, meaning roughly six months of episodes rather than a single standard season. That’s a solid runway for the story to develop, though whether it continues beyond that stretch remains unannounced.

When and where to watch

The series premieres Oct. 6 at 9:25 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX in Japan, with MBS and BS NTV airing it afterward and ABEMA, d Anime Store and U-NEXT streaming it there. Outside Japan, the Nia Liston anime is licensed by Sentai Filmworks and will stream on HIDIVE in select territories as part of its fall 2026 simulcast lineup, according to AniTrendz.
