The wait is over, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation fans. One of the greatest stories that helped kickstart the isekai genre has returned for a third season. After waiting two years since its season two finale, Rudeus Greyrat and his ever-growing family made their season 3 debut with a two-episode premiere on July 4th, 2026.

This exciting treat for fans opened up the Eris Training Arc, shifting the perspective from Rudeus to his cousin and love interest, Eris Greyrat, and chronicling her path following her departure at the end of season 1. Despite kicking off the season with a bang and showing how much she has grown as a character, the season, Eris does not seem to be the focal point. Episode 3 will shift its perspective back to Rudeus and company, leaving fans eager for him to reunite with Eris one day soon.

According to the Blu-ray listings revealed for “Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” season 3, the current season will be for at least fourteen episodes. Even with the two-episode premiere in mind, this is a welcome development for fans, considering that a fourteen-episode count will mark season 3 as the longest for the series so far.

Since its initial release, each season of “Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” has consistently followed the same formula of being split into two cours. Season 1 ran for eleven and then twelve episodes, while Season 2 ran for twelve and then thirteen. With that past track record, odds are that Season 3 will follow a similar formula and contain a second cour following its fourteen-episode run. Rumors have already begun to circulate that season 3 will have 27 episodes.

Many anime fans will no doubt welcome the increase in content, especially considering the wait between seasons 2 and 3 was the longest to date.

Season 3 will begin with Volume 1; Seven Seas describes the story as the following:

“Putting loss and grief behind them, Rudeus and his two wives are ready to settle into polygamous bliss–until an old flame arrives, stirring up old memories. Will the Greyrat family ever achieve the domesticity they hope for? Or are they doomed to be dogged by drama all their days?”

One of the many endearing charms of the “Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” revolves around the fact that this is not some generic power fantasy with the main character using his godly powers to overcome all his issues. Rather, this is a beautiful story of a broken man forming new connections and building up a family as he reinvents himself with this second chance. Based on the synopsis of volume thirteen, the season will continue to revolve around Rudeus navigating this process while dealing with the added dose of familial drama that the show has become accustomed to.

Similar to how Season 2 spent its first part focusing on the bonds Rudeus has formed, Season 3 looks to mimic that as well, allowing for the second part to be more action-focused based on the synopsis of Volume 14 of the light novel, whose cover inspired the official cover for Season 3.

Seven Seas describes the story in the following manner:

“Nanahoshi, Rudeus, and the rest of their group take a trip to Perugius’s mysterious floating fortress, seeking adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn new magic. What they find instead is disaster as one of their number is struck down by a deadly illness. How far will Rudeus go to save a dear friend’s life?”
