McCormick said the casting practically fell into their laps. Bell and Harbour have been close friends for years, and it turned out Bell was already a genuine fan of the franchise before anyone asked her to join. Because of family commitments, her shoot schedule only ran a handful of days, but McCormick insists her presence stretches across the whole film regardless.

“She brought so much humanity and humor,” Wirkola said of Bell. “The moment she shows up, you just love that character.”
