‘The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)’ Review: Action-Packed Return to Classic Star Wars

Pedro Pascal in "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)" stands confidently at a dimly lit bar, carrying a small, green, big-eared creature on their shoulder. The setting is futuristic and warm.

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” is a great movie and a worthy heir to the Star Wars legacy. This is a fun, family-friendly, and heartwarming movie that is enjoyable. The movie is worth the expense of going to see it in the movie. It rained all day in Northern Virginia, and this was a great thing to do. The movie debuted on Memorial Day weekend. It is going to be a big summer for movies, judging from the previews.

“The Mandalorian and Grogu,” like all Star Wars movies, the first since 2019’s “Rise of Skywalker,” is an intensely personal experience. It was no different for this author. The first movie I ever saw in a movie theater was “Star Wars “in 1977. I was three. I do not remember the movie, though I have seen it many times since, but I do remember going. It was an event, so was this. What is your first memory?

The Quick Verdict on “The Mandalorian and Grogu”

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” is a fast-paced action movie. The plot revolves around the relationship between the Mandalorian, Pablo Pascal, and Groku, or Baby Yoda. The Mandalorian has been hired by the New Republic to hunt former high-ranking members of the Empire. These former Empire officers are on a deck of cards. This is reminiscent of how the United States treated former members of the Iraqi regime.

The two heroes go hunting for a former high-ranking general in the army of the Empire. The key to finding the mysterious general, whom noone has ever seen, is the twins, who are descendants of Jabba the Hutt. They hunt for Rotta the Hutt, who is the heir to Jabba, but under contract to fight for the hunted general.

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” find Rotta, who is undefeated and convinced that one more win will result in his freedom. However, the evil general has arranged for Rotta to be killed in his last fight. He ends up teaming with the heroes to defeat a variety of fantastic beasts. They break him free.

This makes the twins angry, who then try to kill the Mandolrian. They almost succeed, but he is saved by Baby Yoda. All ends happily with Rotta agreeing to stay and fight with the New Republic, the twins are killed, and the Mandalorian and Grocku fly off into the sunset, no doubt on their way to a new adventure.

You must see this movie. It is good in its own right. The Mandalorian is a worthy heir to the Star Wars franchise. Another reason to see this movie is that everyone else will, and you will want to talk with them.

The “Mandalorian and Grogu” Pros and Cons

The pro of the movie is its entertaining and family-friendly vibe. It is also fun to think of how these characters fit into the Star Wars franchise. The action-packed and fast-paced scenes will please viewers, who will also like the relationship between the Mandalorian and the cute Grogu. Viewers will also like that he saves the life of The Mandalorian. As he says, the old take care of the young, and the young take care of the old. This is the way. So, may the forces be with you.

There really are no cons to this movie. Though some critics have said the movie feels like an extended television show, since the movie originates from “The Mandalorian” television show on Disney+. Further, some may feel the movie plot lacks the depth of the other Star Wars movies. Though it is worth noting that the film benefits from the numerous movies that have gone before it, and develops the characters and themes.
