Happy Monday! It’s time for your daily devotional. Throughout Scripture, Jesus is identified as the One who takes away sickness. The Bible doesn’t record medical doctors taking away sickness and disease, but from Genesis to Revelation, healing flows from God. In today’s daily devotional, Jesus took on sin, as well as sickness and disease, for your sake.
Wounded For Our Transgressions
Isaiah 53:5 contains one of the most iconic healing scriptures: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” God sent His Son to take away sin and sickness. It begins with Jesus being wounded.
In Matthew 27, the soldiers strip Him, place a crown of thorns on Him, spit upon Him, and beat Him with a reed before His crucifixion. John 19 records them beating Him with their hands. Yet God ordained this from the foundation of the world, not because He sinned. Scripture makes it clear that He was “wounded for our transgressions.” At Calvary, His wounds made salvation possible for you. In this daily devotional, Jesus took the wounds in His body so you wouldn’t have to.
Missing the Mark
Transgression is sin, or missing the mark. It’s presumptuous sin that goes against God’s word. Samson was a Nazarite, and although he wasn’t allowed to touch a dead body, he intentionally stuck his hand in a lion’s carcass and scooped out honey. Although you’ve sinned presumptuously, God’s mercy and grace are more powerful than your sin.
Sin is a result of man’s disobedience influenced by Satan. Good things flow from God. Curses are from the evil one. He’s a cursed being, and anything from Him is cursed. In your daily devotional, every good and perfect gift comes from God, and every cursed, evil thing comes from your enemy.
Bruised For Our Iniquities

Then it says, “He was bruised for our iniquities. Iniquity is continual sin without repentance. It’s premeditated and schemes to carry out sin. David saw Bathsheba, and he devised a plan to get her. Even though he knew she was the “daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite.”
Eliam was one of David’s mighty men of valor, as was Uriah, yet David chose to ignore their trust. David knew God’s law forbade adultery, but He chose to disobey it. Iniquity is more deep-rooted than transgression, but Jesus was bruised for our iniquities. In this daily devotional, Jesus took on the worst of your worst to free you from sin.
Chastised For Your Peace
Jesus was chastised so that you could have peace with God. Now you have right standing with God; sin no longer separates you. And you may come boldly to the throne of grace. Because of His chastisement, you are now righteous through Christ. In your daily devotional, your peace with God today results from the chastisement Jesus willingly endured for your sake.
You’re Healed by His Stripes
Deuteronomy 28 lists sickness as a curse of disobedience. Sickness can result from not knowing God’s promises, the enemy’s attack, and disobedience. However, the good news is that God is greater than sickness. You’re healed by His stripes. Jesus was lashed with a cat-o-nine-tails, and His stripes took away every sickness and disease known to man. Receive God’s promises by faith. God wants you whole. The enemy wants you sick. In today’s daily devotional, whose report will you believe? Jesus is the Healer. Believe it. Receive it. Healing belongs to you today.
