Rising Slovak pop star Adéla said Nicole Kidman’s late-night shoutout left her stunned, calling the Oscar-winning actress her muse. Adéla opened up about the moment during her own U.S. late-night debut, an interview and performance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Oct. 22, according to Billboard.
Kidman brought up the singer by name during her own “Tonight Show” appearance in September. “I can’t believe it. She wrote a song called ‘Nicole Kidman,'” Kidman told Fallon, later adding, “She’s so talented.”
Adéla’s Reaction to the Nicole Kidman Late-Night Mention
When Fallon raised Kidman’s comments, Adéla said the moment was difficult to process. “That’s too much to even think about. She’s my muse,” she said.
Adéla also framed the exposure in lighter terms, crediting Kidman with boosting her profile simply by saying her name in public. “She’s doing charity work by mentioning my name all over town. It’s amazing,” Adéla said.
Kidman isn’t the only star on board. Kidman, Dua Lipa, Pedro Pascal and other celebrities have posted TikToks set to Adéla’s music, Billboard reported. Adéla said she did not initially believe the videos were genuine.
“I was like, this is not real. I’m being pranked obviously, I honestly thought it was AI. But it was not,” she said.
Family Reaction and Chart Performance
Adéla’s mother, also a fan of Kidman’s work, had a similarly stunned response, according to Adéla. “She also loves Nicole. She was beside herself. She was like, ‘I don’t know if people are going crazy or if you’re a genius. But it’s working,'” Adéla said.
The attention has translated into chart movement. Adéla currently has two songs on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Nicole Kidman” climbed to No. 6 on the chart dated Oct. 24, a new high for the song after it previously peaked at No. 9.
The Tonight Show Performance
During her “Tonight Show” appearance, Adéla performed a medley of “Nicole Kidman” and “Ain’t in LA,” both from her debut album, “Prima.” She danced alongside a troupe of backup dancers in a style that drew comparisons to “Moulin Rouge!” according to Billboard.
Adéla grew up with the Disney Channel playing at home and has said she set her sights on the American dream early, studying celebrities and late-night interviews — including Fallon’s own — long before she landed in the guest chair herself.
What’s Next
“Prima,” released Sept. 4, remains the source of both singles currently climbing the Hot 100. Fans can keep up with Adéla’s latest music news here as her breakout continues.
