The 007 First Light Nintendo Switch 2 release date is now official. IO Interactive’s spy thriller arrives on Nintendo’s console on March 18, 2027, according to Polygon and Gematsu, nearly 10 months after the game debuted on other platforms.
That gap matters for Switch 2 owners who have been waiting to play the game since it launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 27, 2026, according to Gematsu. The Switch 2 version has already missed two earlier windows, having been pushed back a month before the original May launch and then delayed again last month, per Polygon.
007 First Light Release Date And Platforms
- Date: March 18, 2027
- Platforms: Nintendo Switch 2
- Deluxe Edition price: $69.99
- Other platforms (already released): PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), May 27, 2026
Polygon reported that preordering the Switch 2 Deluxe Edition comes with early access to a GoldenEye Suit. The Switch 2 release also folds in gold gadgets and four skins tied to the game’s Tacsim missions: Day of the Dead, Desert Explorer, Silent Anchor and Gentleman Operator, according to Polygon.
Shoppers who buy through Amazon will have access to a Specialist Edition exclusive to that retailer. That version includes a Classic Tuxedo skin not found elsewhere and ships on a game-key card rather than a traditional cartridge, Polygon reported.
Why The Switch 2 Version Took Longer
IO Interactive has pointed to performance work as the reason for the extended timeline. “The development team will use the coming months to continue refining the game’s optimisation and performance on Nintendo Switch 2, ensuring it meets the standard players expect at launch,” the studio said, according to Polygon.
The statement lines up with the version’s history of delays. The Switch 2 edition slipped a month before the game’s original May 2026 release on other platforms, then was pushed back again in September, moving the date to March 2027, per Polygon’s reporting.
What It Means For Switch 2 Owners
For fans who bought a Switch 2 hoping to play 007 First Light at launch alongside PlayStation, Xbox and PC players, the wait stretches to roughly 10 months after the original release. The cosmetic incentives, including the GoldenEye Suit preorder bonus and the Amazon-exclusive tuxedo skin, give Switch 2 buyers some content not available in the original May 2026 release packages, based on the details IO Interactive has shared so far.
What’s Next
Preorders for the Deluxe and Specialist Editions are available now. IO Interactive has not announced further platform plans beyond Switch 2.
