Zorro Remastered, a restored hardcover collection of the masked hero’s 1966-1967 Gold Key Comics run, is available from Alien Books at a list price of $49.99. The 256-page edition, listed with a July 21, 2026, on-sale date, gives the vintage stories new coloring and re-lettering for modern readers.

Zorro Remastered release details

  • Title: Zorro Remastered Edition
  • Publisher: Alien Books, working with Zorro Productions and IDW Publishing
  • Format: hardcover, 256 pages, about 7.6 by 11 inches
  • List price: $49.99
  • ISBN: 9781962201599
  • Original source: the Gold Key Comics Zorro series of 1966-1967

Penguin Random House lists the book with a July 21, 2026, on-sale date. The edition follows a 2025 crowdfunding campaign for the project, according to Overstreet Access. The campaign’s page billed the book as a remastered edition of the Alex Toth era of the character.

What is inside the remastered edition

The collection gathers the complete original Zorro series from Gold Key Comics. Publisher copy describes completely restored artwork, new coloring and a contemporary “re-interpretation” of the original design, while staying true to the source material.

The book also includes an exclusive new story by writer Howard Chaykin and artist Eduardo Risso. Publisher copy says the story is presented in color and in English for the first time.

Earlier promotional material for the project also described a premium slipcase and a die-cut “Z” cover. Those packaging details were not confirmed in the retailer listings reviewed for this story, so buyers should check the product page of their retailer before ordering.

At 256 pages and roughly 7.6 by 11 inches, Zorro Remastered is a large-format hardcover, which gives the restored artwork room on the page. The $49.99 list price puts it in the premium tier for comics collections, aimed at collectors and fans who want a durable, shelf-ready edition rather than a loose set of reprints. The ISBN, 9781962201599, can help buyers find the right edition at bookstores and comic shops.

Why Zorro Remastered matters for fans

The edition brings some of the character’s earliest comic-book adventures back into print in a single volume. For longtime readers, it is a chance to see 1960s art with modern production values. For newer readers, it is an easy way into the character’s comic history without hunting for scarce back issues.

The release also arrives during a wider Zorro revival at Alien Books. Overstreet Access reported that the publisher planned two miniseries for 2026: “Zorro,” by Chaykin and artist Jorge Fornés, which pits Don Diego de la Vega against Napoleon Bonaparte’s forces, and “Zorro’s Legacy,” by writer Dan Abnett and artist Aaron Lopresti, which follows a modern-day descendant in Los Angeles. Reported launch months varied between sources, so check with your local comic shop for current issue numbers.

Where Zorro fits in pop culture right now

The character is also back in the news in film. Our report on the Django and Zorro crossover from Sony looks at one of the other projects keeping the swordsman in the spotlight. Comic fans may also like our coverage of Captain Picard’s fate in a new comic and the Blood of Olympus graphic novel.
