Worlds 2026 is here. The wait is over. The first match sees Cloud9 battle Karmine Corp. The series winner will earn a leg up and bragging rights. Regional pride is on the line. With only one spot left, every series matters. Both teams will want to start Worlds on the front foot. Both teams have struggled in pivotal matches. Who can keep their calm and start Worlds with a win?

A First Meeting Between Fabled Organizations

C9 and KC will face off for the first time at Worlds 2026. C9 last reached an international event in 2023. Worlds 2026 marks KC’s third international appearance, but it will be their first time on the biggest stage. Both organisations are popular in their region, and these teams may meet again in the coming years.

Player Head-to-Head

Top Lane – Thanatos Versus Canna

A battle between the younger and older generation of Korean top laners. The experience may prove vital in this matchup. Thanatos finds himself at his first international event. Canna has played at Worlds twice. Both players can play a variety of styles. Give them a carry, they will deliver; put them on the weak side, they will hold strong. Overall, the matchup is Canna-favored, but not by a significant margin.

Jungle – Blaber Versus Yike

Both junglers have had periods as the best jungler in their respective regions. However, at the pivotal moments, they have faltered. Both players are vital to their team’s communication. IWillDominate emphasized Blaber’s role, being the driving force behind C9’s plays. Yike has the edge in the matchup, but similar to Canna, performance on the day will matter.

Mid Lane – Loki Versus Kyeahoo (Featured Matchup)

The only matchup in which we feel C9 has the edge. Both players have had their stints in the LCK. Loki played on HANJIN BRION, and Kyeahoo played on DRX. Loki takes the edge in the matchup because of his impact. Kyeahoo tends to take a backseat with Caliste and Canna on his team. Loki prefers to be a carry and plays to win his lanes.

Bot Lane – Tactical Versus Caliste

The biggest gap in roles. Caliste wins this matchup in most scenarios. He is arguably the best AD carry on his day. Tactical can reach those peaks, but less frequently. He also tends to make silly plays, as seen in the recent playoffs. Tactical can win the matchup, but it is unlikely.

Support – Vulcan Versus Busio

Busio and Vulcan met numerous times in the LCS and LTA. Recently, Busio had the edge over Vulcan. Both are top-quality supports. Busio will likely have the louder impact. Vulcan tends to push his team forward quietly. The meta should see engage supports. That will require them to be centre stage in teamfights.

Predictions

Karmine Corp Versus Movistar KOI before Worlds 2026

Cloud9 3-2 Karmine Corp

Based on our player head-to-head, KC should have the advantage. However, the game is not determined solely by individual strengths. KC has extremely high highs, but low lows. That was evident in Summer. After a 9-0 Regular Season, they lost to Movistar KOI unceremoniously in front of their home crowd. At their peak, KC should win. C9 is the better team overall. They function better as a unit in the vital moments. Both teams can choke, and this series will show who has the better temperament.

A Long Road Ahead

Winning this series is only step one. The winner still needs two more series victories to reach the Swiss Stage. They could meet again in the final qualifying match. The two teams will await the conclusion of the second Play-Ins series between FURIA and MVK Esports.
