Venom: The Last Dance Post Credits Scenes Leaves Fans Questioning Future Of Franchise

Venom: The Last Dance post-credits scenes

The highly anticipated Venom: The Last Dance opened this weekend in theaters. Tom Hardy reprised his role as the titular character, and the film promised a conclusion to the trilogy. However, every comic book movie always seems to have some teaser at the end. The mid-credits and post-credits scenes have become just as anticipated as the movie itself for fans. It gives an idea of where the franchise is going. Fans were especially looking forward to the teasers in this movie because the future of Venom on the big screen is unknown. Moviegoers were spoiled with two post-credits scenes that left fans questioning the franchise’s future.

**Warning: Spoilers for Venom: The Last Dance***

Venom: The Last Dance Ending

Venom: The Last Dance centers around Eddie Brock and the symbiote running from the government and Xenophages sent by Knull, the movie’s villain. Because Venom brought Brock back to life in a previous movie, he possesses a codex that would break Knull out of his eternal imprisonment. Venom sacrifices himself to save the world from the horrors Knull would release. The movie ends with Eddie back in New York City, reminiscing about his time with Venom.

Without post-credits scenes, this would be a fitting ending to the trilogy. The symbiote is gone. The big bad villain is kept at bay. Eddie can get back to living a normal life without getting sucked into wild intergalactic shenanigans. It makes the addition of two scenes after the ending puzzling to fans.

The First Scene

The first scene happens in the mid-credits. Throughout the movie, we don’t get a great look at Knull, played by Andy Serkis, who directed the second movie in the trilogy. He spends most of the movie locked away, looking down, awaiting freedom.  In this scene, we finally get a great look at the character. He looks up and gives a chilling warning.

“Your champion has fallen,” Knull says of Venom. “Your planets will be mine. The King in Black is awake. I will kill your world. Everyone will burn, and you will watch.”

Fans hoped to see more of the legendary Marvel villain in this film, but it seems Marvel/Sony have plans down the road for him. While this specific story may be coming to an end, Sony has plenty more coming down the pipeline. Kraven the Hunter hits the big screen in December and may give us another clue about what the studio has planned down the road. In addition, a Tom Holland-led Spider-Man 4 is also in development. This scene gives us a look at a future villain but the final scene gives us the fate of Venom.

Post Credits Scene

The bartender, played by Cristo Fernández, is seen walking from the wreckage of Area 51. However, he is not the main focus of the scene. The camera zooms in on a bottle as a black cockroach crawls towards it, implying that a small part of Vemon may have survived the explosion. This would explain why Knull is bullish on the idea of getting released from his prison. It also opens the door for the symbiote to appear in future movies. Many have wondered whether Venom would team up with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man down the road. Sony is leaving the door open for that to happen.

The future of this franchise is up in the air. Venom: The Last Dance leaves fans with many questions. We’ve seen post-credits scenes tease certain characters and storylines and then amount to nothing. Will the ones here suffer the same fate? Or does Marvel/Sony have a master plan up their sleeve to keep expanding the universe? Kraven the Hunter is released on December 13th and could give us the first look at the future.
