It’s time for your Thursday daily devotional. God is so merciful that He gives you directions for life. God told Israel how to live in right standing with Him. Today, you have the Word of God, the Bible, that teaches you what God requires. To ignore it is to bring destruction to one’s own soul. In today’s daily devotional, there is no excuse for not knowing God’s plan.
God Delivered His People
God delivered His people from bondage with miracles, signs, and wonders in Egypt and in the wilderness. They were protected throughout their journey to the promised land, having only to stand still and see God’s salvation. The enemy can’t stop your blessings, but he can get you to grumble and complain if you listen, sabotaging your own blessings. God invites Israel to wake up, acknowledge its evil ways, and turn to Him. In your daily devotional, God has shown you what pleases Him, but it’s up to you to take heed.
God Speaks to His People
In Micah 6:9, “The Lord’s voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name.” This verse mirrors Proverbs 1:20: “Wisdom crieth without: she uttereth her voice in the streets.” God speaks, but only the wise hear. In verse 11, God is against unjust gain by robbing the poor.
The love of money turns men violent, and they lie and deceive others. In this daily devotional, getting rich by wicked means shows a lack of faith that God can supply your needs. Distrusting God became a burden for others, and God called it out.
God Calls Out Wickedness
Sin blinds people to what’s right. If they’ve done wickedness for a lengthy time with no repercussions, they think everything’s good. But God keeps record, and all sin has consequences, for the payment of sin is death. In verse 12, the wicked will be smitten in their deeds. No matter how much they get, it won’t be enough.
They’ll never be satisfied no matter how hard they work, and their cravings will be their destruction. They’ll think they’ve gotten a deal, but it’ll slip through their fingers. Heartache and disappointment will follow them if they don’t turn to God. In your daily devotional, heed God’s warning through Micah, and know that God’s ways are always right.
God Gives His Word
When people insist on living wickedly, everything they do falls apart, although things may not crumble at once. In verse 15, “Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.” The life of the wicked is entangled, a web of deceit. Faith pleases God, but those who live outside of faith don’t. Therefore, they can’t confidently claim God’s blessings and abundance.
Whatever they get by wicked means may appear to prosper, but the cost of unrighteousness is a high one to pay. In this daily devotional, there’s a saying that you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. God gives you His word, but He won’t force you to drink from the fountain of life.
God Has a Better Way for You
In Thursday’s daily devotional, instead of following God’s word, Israel readily followed the ways of Omri and Ahab, two of Israel’s most wicked kings. In John 3:19, Jesus declares that “men loved darkness rather than light”; therefore, it will be their destruction. In today’s daily devotional, God has a better way: know His plan.
