Daily Devotional For Tuesday Thoughts | March 3, 2026
It’s Tuesday, and time for your daily devotion. Some individuals are considered menaces to society, therefore outcasts, so they’re separated from the community, family, and friends. In today’s daily devotion, while most people prefer to keep them distant, there is One who seeks them out.
The Gadarenes’ Country
In Mark 5, Jesus and His disciples go to Gadara, the country of the Gadarenes. Upon getting out of the boat, He’s met by a man possessed by demons. Banished from society, he’s living in caves among tombs in the mountains, breaking chains meant to bind him. Day and night, he cries out while self-harming, cutting himself with stones. Then he spots Jesus. Verse 6 says, “He ran and worshipped him.”
Confronting the Tormentor
Demons are subject to Jesus, and they fear Him, for James 2:19 says that “the devils also believe, and tremble.” In verse 7, after this act, a demon speaks through him: “What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.” Satan is a tormentor and delights in tormenting others; however, he knows that he has a set time of torment, a day of reckoning. He entreats Jesus “by God” to leave him alone. In your daily devotion, know that the tormentor must bow at the feet of Jesus.
Dismantling a Legion

The demon knows that Jesus’s presence means his gig is up. Jesus commands him to leave, but asks, “What is thy name?” Not that He doesn’t discern who He’s speaking to, but Jesus teaches that numbers don’t matter. The demoniac answers, “My name is Legion: for we are many.” At this, most would be intimidated, as a standard Roman legion consisted of six thousand men. However, Jesus isn’t moved because it doesn’t matter, whether it’s 6000, 60,000, 600 million, or more, He has authority over them. In this daily devotion, say out loud, “With God on my side, it doesn’t matter how many come against me!”
Swine Reject Satan
Demons choose to inhabit people because they want to wreak havoc in their lives and the lives of others, interrupting God’s plan for humanity. Fearing the abyss, they beg Jesus to let them go into a nearby herd of swine. Jesus allows it; however, the swine revolt. Upon the demons entering them, they run down a mountain slope and drown in the sea. Not even the pigs want to be filled with demons. In your daily devotion, rejoice that as a child of God, you cannot be possessed by demons.
A Present Help
It’s a dramatic and terrifying moment for those who kept the swine, as they run and tell what happened in the city, drawing a huge crowd. When the crowd arrives, they see Jesus, but they don’t see a demoniac cutting himself and crying; instead, they see a man “sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind.” Having no spiritual understanding, they are “afraid” and ask Jesus to leave. Verse 17 says, “And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.” Maybe pigs were their livelihood, but they’re now rejecting Jesus. In today’s daily devotion, declare that you won’t reject Jesus, who is your present help.
Be a Testimony
In Friday’s daily devotion, the man who was possessed doesn’t reject Jesus; he wants to follow Him. However, Jesus tells him to return home and testify to his friends about the Lord’s compassion and what He’s done for him. In your daily devotion, like the man, you have a chance to testify about what Jesus has done for you and lead others to Christ.
