Daily Devotion For Tuesday Thoughts | March 24, 2026
It’s Tuesday, and time for your daily devotion. When God moves mightily in your life, you should lift your voice in praise. One way to capture the moment is to sing about the great things He’s done in your life. You don’t have to be a worship leader or vocalist. In today’s daily devotion, sing unto the Lord.
Celebrate God’s Victory
In Judges 5, Deborah celebrates the victory of Israel’s army led by Barak over the Canaanites and their general Sisera. Canaan’s King Jabin had oppressed Israel for twenty years, and when God fought for them, they were delivered from Jabin’s and Sisera’s cruel grip. In verse 2, Deborah begins her song by regaling the leaders of Israel and praising God.
They bravely led Israel into warfare, and the warriors followed them in battle: “Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.” In verse 3, she enjoins kings and princes to hear about the great God of Israel, unmatched in power and might. In your daily devotion, learn to recount God’s goodness and be willing to shout to the world His praises.
Sharing the Victory
The Lord had given Deborah and Barak victory after twenty years of conflict. Sisera’s army was strong and brutal, and their attacks were ongoing. But Deborah kept praying and believing in God, who had her call for Barak to assemble the troops for battle. In verse 18, she praises the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali, who answered the battle call when other tribes refused to leave the comforts of their everyday lives.
Reuben, Gilead, Dan, and Asher choose to remain among their sheepfolds, or with their ships, or by their harbors: “Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.” In this daily devotion, don’t forget the people who stood by your side in challenging moments. They share the victory with you.
They Fought From Heaven

Deborah sings about the kings of Canaan who came out to fight against Israel. They strove for nought because God fought for Israel. Verse 20 says, “They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.” God’s warring angels engaged in warfare from the heavens. Even nature rebuked the Canaanite armies as the Kishon River “swept them away.” In verse 23, the angel of the Lord cursed those who didn’t stand on the Lord’s side by not joining the battle.
Jael the Heroine
In her song, Deborah praises Jael, the wife of Heber, saying “blessed shall she be above women,” an honor only given again to Mary, the mother of Jesus. She sings about how Sisera ran to Jael’s tent asking for water, and she hospitably offered him milk and butter. Then, with a tent peg and hammer, she ended his evil terrors against God’s people. Sisera was defeated, and one woman, acting courageously, was the reason for his downfall. In your daily devotion, embrace whatever role God has for you, and be willing to move at His command.
You Will Have Peace
In Tuesday’s daily devotion, at the end of her song, Deborah exclaims, “So may all your enemies perish, Lord! But may all who love you be like the sun when it rises in its strength.” After the Lord gave Israel victory in battle, the last line of Judges 5 says they had peace for forty years. In today’s daily devotion, when you walk with God, He gives you a song to sing and peace in your heart.
