Daily Devotion For Tuesday Thoughts | March 17, 2026
It’s Tuesday, and time for your daily devotion. Some people in the Bible had faith by believing in God despite their circumstances. They knew it didn’t matter what they saw; it mattered what God’s word said. If you only trust in what you see, you’ve already received everything possible for you. In today’s daily devotion, say nothing is impossible for God.
The Centurion
In Luke 7, when Jesus enters Capernaum, He’s met by a small company of Jewish elders. They have come on behalf of a Roman centurion who has become a believer in the God of Israel. His servant is sick and near death. Obviously, he’s heard of Jesus healing the sick because he has sent a group to ask Him to come and heal his servant.
Upon meeting Jesus, they begin to talk of all the generous deeds the centurion has done for Israel. Verse 5 says, “For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.” In your daily devotion, notice that Jesus has a listening ear to the situation you face.
Speak the Word
Jesus agrees to go with them, and they head in that direction. However, the centurion, in uncommon humility, sends another group to tell Jesus not to trouble Himself. He doesn’t feel worthy of Jesus coming into his home. But because he knows Jesus has healing power, his message to Him is “say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.”
As a centurion officer, he knows how authority works. He has told his messengers to tell Jesus that he has soldiers under his command, and when he commands them to go or come, they obey. In this daily devotion, speak in faith what you believe God can do for you.
So Great Faith
In verse 9, Jesus marvels at the centurion’s words. Since teaching, preaching, and healing multitudes, Jesus hasn’t found among those of His own nation what He discovers on this day. Turning to the crowd, He declares, “I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.” In all of Jesus’s ministry throughout many Jewish towns and villages, no one has demonstrated faith like this centurion. In today’s daily devotion, the centurion not only had faith to believe, but he spoke in faith what he believed he would receive.
Jesus Has Authority

The centurion believed in Jesus’s authority over sickness and disease. He knew that when one has authority, they command those under them to do what they say. He didn’t doubt for a moment; he believed his servant would be healed as soon as Jesus commanded sickness to leave. In this daily devotion, determine that your faith will be as strong as the centurion’s, who knew that God’s authority is Sovereign and absolute.
Just as You Believed
In Matthew’s gospel account, the centurion himself approaches Jesus to heal his servant, rather than sending elders. And in 8:13, Jesus tells the centurion, “Go,” with the assurance that “it will be done for you, just as you have believed.” In Luke’s writing, verse 10 says, “And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.” In this daily devotion, regardless of the differences in the two gospels’ reports, a miracle happened that day.
Healed by Faith in God
In Tuesday’s daily devotion, the centurion’s servant, who was sick unto death, is now healed because of the centurion’s faith. It mattered what the centurion believed and spoke because it led to him receiving a miracle from the Lord. In today’s daily devotion, stand on the word, speak it by faith, and receive what you’re believing God for.
