Daily Devotion Thursday Thoughts with Total Apex Media | November 27, 2025

Happy Thanksgiving Day! It’s Thursday’s daily devotion. Our Psalm 34 series is in high gear as we listen to David’s thoughts and note his commitment to God. David began life as an underdog. He was the eighth son of Jesse, with questionable paternity, implied from Psalm 51:5.

When Samuel arrived to anoint one of Jesse’s sons, David was left out. He gains Saul’s favor at a young age, only to lose it when Saul gets jealous and seeks to kill him. But David keeps singing praises to God. In verses 12-13, He advises his hearers to stay in God’s favor.

12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

In your daily devotion, declare that you’re a receiver of God’s good life!

He Who Desires Life

Moses gathered the congregation and gave them a choice between death and life. Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” There’s only one choice, for the fear of the Lord brings life.

God has given you the formula for success. Verse 20 says that if you want life, love the Lord, and obey Him. Don’t try to complicate it; receive it in its simplicity. In today’s daily devotion, realize God’s instructions lead to long life and peace.

Loves Many Days

Those who love God and keep His commandments receive His promise in Psalm 91:16: “With long life will I satisfy him.” Know that Jesus came to give you life more abundantly. David desired a long life, which is why he ran from Saul.

In one infamous incident, David and his men were running on one side of a mountain, hiding from Saul and his men, while Saul and his men were running on the other side looking for them. Just as God protected David from harm, He protects you. In this daily devotion, know that life has its challenges, but God has promised you a long life.

He May See Good

To see good in life, focus your thoughts, words, and actions on the Lord. Forget the enemy’s lies, saying things are all bad, it’s gloom and doom, and your future is bleak. God leads in truth, but the devil is the father of lies.

When David was on that mountain, he probably wasn’t seeing too much good. But God had used Jonathan, Saul’s son, to deliver a word of encouragement to David. In Thursday’s daily devotion, be encouraged to continue trusting God, the Source of Life.

Keep Your Tongue From Evil

David admonishes keeping your tongue from evil. He had many opportunities to speak evil of Saul. There were several times he could have ambushed him; however, David refused to touch the “Lord’s anointed.” Saul’s anointing had departed at this point, but David respected that it had once been upon Saul as God’s chosen king. Proclaim in this daily devotion that your tongue won’t speak evil.

Speak No Guile

Guile means deceit, lies, or dishonesty. Your speech must be holy and pure. David could’ve devised an evil plan against Saul. Although a skillful warrior, David didn’t resort to craftiness to trap Saul. In Luke 26:28, Jesus says, “Bless them that curse you.” Don’t stoop to your enemy’s level. Rejoice that you can stay above it by speaking no guile.

Final Word

In today’s daily devotion, David tells you how to walk in God’s favor. When you desire a long, abundant, good life, keep your tongue from evil and speak no guile. That’s your success formula.
