Sofía Vergara’s son shared a pointed social media post about “narcissistic men” this week, days after her ex-husband Joe Manganiello made claims about her behavior during his health crisis in his new memoir, according to Page Six. The posts followed the release of excerpts from Manganiello’s book, “Bloodlines,” which is scheduled for release on Oct. 13, 2026.

Instagram Story Calls Out Narcissists

Vergara’s 35-year-old son, Manolo, posted an Instagram Story that contrasted the behavior of narcissists with that of good men, according to Page Six. The post read in part, “Remember kids … it doesn’t matter how much you do for a [narcissist]. They will resent you for it and nothing will ever be enough and they’ll always somehow try to paint you as the bad guy.”

Vergara also reposted content from Tom Brady about the ability to laugh at oneself being a sign of intelligence, endorsing it with clapping emoji, Page Six reported.

What Manganiello Wrote In His Memoir

In “Bloodlines,” Manganiello claims Vergara refused to hug him and made fun of his puppy while he dealt with a mysterious autoimmune condition, according to TMZ. He described a period during his illness when he gave away a gun because he “kept thinking about it,” and said the arrival of his dog shifted his role. “I had to give my gun away because I kept thinking about it, and then the dog came.

I went from being the patient to the caretaker,” he wrote, per TMZ. Manganiello’s chihuahua, a 5-pound dog named Bubbles, was adopted in 2019, according to Just Jared.

Over seven years, Manganiello underwent emergency surgery in 2016, lost 60 pounds, had multiple colonoscopies and had part of his intestines removed, TMZ reported. He later had surgery to reconnect his digestive tract and says he is now symptom-free and off his medications. E!

News reported his symptoms, including abdominal pain, digestive ulcers, fevers, rashes, headaches and fatigue, began shortly after his November 2015 wedding to Vergara. Manganiello writes that he ultimately found healing by visiting a shaman in Santa Monica, according to Page Six.

Competing Accounts Of The Breakup

Vergara and Manganiello married in November 2015 after less than a year of dating and announced their breakup in July 2023 after seven years together, finalizing their divorce in February 2024, according to Page Six. In a January 2024 interview with Men’s Journal, Vergara said the split came down to Manganiello wanting children while she did not want to be an “old mom.” “I didn’t want to be an old mom.

I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore,” she said. Vergara welcomed her son Manolo in 1991 with ex Joe Gonzalez.

Manganiello disputes that account in his memoir, writing that the couple gave up on IVF because of his health battle and that he did not want to die and leave Vergara with a child conceived from an egg donor who would not be biologically hers, Page Six reported.

Manganiello, now engaged to Caitlin O’Connor and open to having children with her, told E! News the public narrative about the split was inaccurate. “To be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis, and after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I’m gone’?

That’s never who I was,” he said. He also said, “Two people grew apart, and sometimes that happens,” and added of reports attributed to Vergara, “At the end of the day, you never even know if that’s what he said for real. I’ve read a lot of things that I’ve said that I’m like, ‘Huh?’ What am I gonna do, call him?

I don’t know if he even said that.”

Manganiello also said in his memoir that “there were things said and printed about [him] that were false,” according to Page Six.

What’s Next

Manganiello’s memoir “Bloodlines” is set for release on Oct. 13, 2026. Vergara has not addressed the memoir’s specific claims directly, with her public response so far limited to the social media posts shared by her and her son.
