Singer Sean Kingston, along with his mother, Janice Turner, is currently under fire for federal wire fraud after being arrested back in February 2024. After a five-day trial, the two have just been convicted and found guilty of all their charges. While the two were just convicted, sentencing will not be until this July. The “Beautiful Girls” singer and his mother could be seeing the inside of a jail cell for many years to come.
Sean Kingston And Mom: Charges Faced
The Verdict
The trial for Sean Kingston and his mother totaled five days, and a decision was reached quickly, as the two were found guilty of all charges against them. It only continues to go downhill from there, especially for Kingston’s mother.
According to USA Today, Kingston and his mother faced one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. So that leads us wondering… what happens next?
For now, nothing much happens to them as Kingston and his mother aren’t going to be sentenced until July 11. Each count has a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, therefore, they both could be facing some serious jail time.
USA Today reported that Kingston’s mother was put in a U.S. Marshal’s custody where she would be incarcerated at the Miami Federal Dentention Center until their sentencing date. On the other hand, Kingston had his bond modified, and he would face house arrest with a monitor. He would also have to turn over $200,000 in cash to the U.S. District Court for Southern Florida.
Naturally, Kingston, his mother, and their lawyers weren’t happy with the outcome of the trial. Giving a statement to USA Today, Kingston’s lawyer said, “We do not agree with the verdict. We are thankful that Mr. Kingston was allowed to remain out on bond while awaiting sentencing. We will file an appeal at that time.”
Unfortunately for Kingston and his mother, they did the crime, and now they have to do the time. Now we just have to sit and wait to find out the details of their sentencing this July. Whether or not they’re going to spend the rest of their lives in jail is to be determined.
