Sadie Sink is in talks to star in and produce an adaptation of Emma Cline’s novel The Guest, according to Variety.
Lorene Scafaria is in talks to write and direct the project. A24 and Square Peg are in exclusive negotiations to acquire the rights, according to Deadline.
Sadie Sink The Guest Casting Details
The Guest follows a calculating grifter navigating the treacherous world of summer in the Hamptons. Sink’s involvement would mark both a starring role and a producing credit if the talks result in a deal.
Around a dozen other buyers competed for the rights before the Sink-Scafaria package from A24 and Square Peg won out, according to Deadline.
The Adaptation Team So Far
Scafaria previously directed Hustlers and worked on Succession. If her talks to write and direct The Guest advance, it would mark her latest literary adaptation following that body of work.
Emma Cline wrote The Guest, which Penguin Random House published in 2024. The novel was longlisted for the Pen/Faulkner Award and was named a Belletrist Book Club pick. More than a dozen publications, including The New Yorker, Time, NPR and The Washington Post, listed it among their best books of the year, per Variety.
Sink is represented by WME, Peikoff Mahan and imPRint. Scafaria is represented by UTA and the firm Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, according to Variety.
Sadie Sink’s Recent Work
Sink is known for her role in Stranger Things, which concluded this past winter. She recently starred as Jean Grey opposite Tom Holland in the record-breaking Spider-Man: Brand New Day. She is set to reprise the role in the upcoming Marvel film X-Men, which begins production at the top of the year.
What’s Next For The Guest
The talks remain in negotiation, with A24 and Square Peg in exclusive talks to acquire the rights.
Production timelines and release dates have not been announced.
