If you’ve watched any of the Real Housewives franchises, then you know that they’re all about the drama. For Sonja Morgan, even outside of filming, it seems like a lot of drama likes to follow her and the other ladies around. Sonja, who joined The Real Housewives of New York City during the show’s third season in 2010, was a part of the show through 2021. Recently, she’s caused some waves as she’s been banned from a New York City restaurant. Was it a complete misunderstanding?
Sonja Morgan Is In Hot Water
Recently, Sonja Morgan caused a huge scene while she was out to dinner at a very popular Italian restaurant, Tucci. According to Page Six, when she was given the bill at the end of the meal, she refused to pay the $1,000 check. The Real Housewives of New York demanded that her bill be comped immediately.
Allegedly, in the past when she dined at the restaurant, he meals were always comped, and she assumed that her meal would be comped this time around too. Unfortunately for Sonja Morgan, that wasn’t the case this time around.
The whole situation started off poorly when she showed up to dinner (on a busy weekend) after making a reservation for three, but arriving at the restaurant wanting a table for five. Being professionals, the restaurant still accommodated her, but apparently, what really set her off was when she was given the $1,000 bill.
A source told Page Six that Sonja was “absolutely hysterical and refused to pay. It was like she was filming a Housewives episode, shouting, ‘I’m a celebrity!.'”
The source also said, “She was like, ‘I don’t pay; people pay me [to go to their restaurants].’ She was absolutely entitled and caused a scene about not paying.”
A Miscommunication?
After making a big stink about having to pay for a meal that she was usually comped, the owner of the restaurant, Max Tucci, made it very clear to Sonja Morgan that that wouldn’t be the case this time, and she would have to pay her extensive bill. Nothing would be comped this time around.
Sonja told Page Six that the whole thing wasn’t a big deal, and it was simply a misunderstanding. She said, “There was a clear miscommunication. I believed I was dining in exchange for a promotional post. I made that known to staff.”
While Sonja could say it was a miscommunication, all she wanted, Max Tucci wasn’t having it, and he wasn’t taking her behavior. He told Page Six, “It’s not about me. Don’t do that to my staff,” he continued, “The cost of everything is so expensive right now [for restaurants], and she’s just taking advantage. … There was no arrangement for her to have a comped dinner. She just wanted free food and service.”
After all the back and forth, Page Six reported that Sonja finally paid the bill and included a tip by Monday; however, the restaurant made it known that she’s no longer welcome at Tucci.
